These files are in tree so that people can build (including from git)
without needing recent autotools.
We should update them periodically. Debian buster has been Debian
stable fopr a while. Our CI is running buster.
There should be no significant functional change; it's possible that
there are bugfixes to the configure scripts but I have not reviewed
them.

libxl: use vchan for QMP access with Linux stubdomain
where a new feature was added. However, that commit contains a lot of
extraneous noise in configure compared to its parent.
Compared to 83c845033dc8bb3a35ae245effb7832b6823174a~, this commit
restores those extraneous changes, leaving precisely the correct
changes. So one way of looking at the changes we are making now, is
that we are undoing accidental changes to the autoconf output.
I used Debian's autoconf 2.69-11 on amd64.

Access to QMP of QEMU in Linux stubdomain is possible over vchan
connection. Handle the actual vchan connection in a separate process
(vchan-socket-proxy). This simplified integration with QMP (already
quite complex), but also allows preliminary filtering of (potentially
malicious) QMP input.
Since only one client can be connected to vchan server at the same time
and it is not enforced by the libxenvchan itself, additional client-side
locking is needed. It is implicitly implemented by vchan-socket-proxy,
as it handle only one connection at a time. Note that qemu supports only
one simultaneous client on a control socket anyway (but in UNIX socket
case, it enforce it server-side), so it doesn't add any extra
limitation.
libxl qmp client code already has locking to handle concurrent access
attempts to the same qemu qmp interface.

Squash in changes of regenerated autotools files.
Kill the vchan-socket-proxy so we don't leak the daemonized processes.
libxl__stubdomain_is_linux_running() works against the guest_domid, but
the xenstore path is beneath the stubdomain. This leads to the use of
libxl_is_stubdom in addition to libxl__stubdomain_is_linux_running() so
that the stubdomain calls kill for the qmp-proxy.
Also call libxl__qmp_cleanup() to remove the unix sockets used by
vchan-socket-proxy. vchan-socket-proxy only creates qmp-libxl-$domid,
and libxl__qmp_cleanup removes that as well as qmp-libxenstat-$domid.
However, it tolerates ENOENT, and a stray qmp-libxenstat-$domid should
not exist.

xc_dom_p2m() and dom->p2m_host[] implement a linear transform for translated
domains, but waste a substantial chunk of RAM doing so.
ARM literally never reads dom->p2m_host[] (because of the xc_dom_translated()
short circuit in xc_dom_p2m()). Drop it all.
x86 HVM does use dom->p2m_host[] for xc_domain_populate_physmap_exact() calls
when populating 4k pages. Reuse the same tactic from 2M/1G ranges and use an
on-stack array instead. Drop the memory allocation.
x86 PV guests do use dom->p2m_host[] as a non-identity transform. Rename the

In-guest p2m's are a concept specific to x86 PV guests. alloc_p2m_list() is
the only hook which initialises dom->p2m_guest, making
xc_dom_update_guest_p2m() a nop for non-PV guests.
Move p2m_guest into xc_dom_image_x86 and adjust alloc_p2m_list() to match.
Drop xc_dom_update_guest_p2m() entirely.
One caller, move_l3_below_4G(), only uses it to modify a single entry, so
rewriting the whole guest p2m is wasteful - opencode the single update
instead. The other caller is common code. Instead, move the logic into the
setup_pgtables() hooks, which know their own sizeof_pfn and can do away with
the switch statement.

The patch file 00cvs is an import of a new upstream version of
grub1 from upstream CVS.
Unfortunately, in the period covered by the update, upstream changed
the documentation licence from a simple permissive licence, to the GNU
"Free Documentation Licence" with Front and Back Cover Texts.
The Debian Project is of the view that use the Front and Back Cover
Texts feature of the GFDL makes the resulting document not Free
Software, because of the mandatory redistribution of these immutable
texts. (Personally, I agree.)
This is awkward because Debian do not want to ship non-free content.
So the Debian maintainers need to launder the upstream source code, to
remove the troublesome files. This is an extra step when
incorporating new upstream versions. It's particularly annoying for
security response, which often involves rebasing onto a new upstream
release.
grub1 is obsolete and the last change to Xen's PV grub1 stubdom code
was in 2016. Furthermore, the grub1 documentation is not built and
installed by the Xen pv-grub stubdom Makefiles.
Therefore, remove all docs changes from stubdom/grub.patches. This
means that there are now no longer any GFDL-licenced grub docs in
xen.git.
There is no user impact, and Debian is helped. This change would
complicate any attempts to update to a new version of upstream grub1,
but it seems unlikely that such a thing will ever happen.

Build can fail if stubdom build is run before tools build because:
1. tools/include build uses relative path and depends on XEN_OS
2. stubdom needs tools/include to be built, at which time XEN_OS is
mini-os and corresponding symlinks are created
3. libraries inside tools needs tools/include to be built, at which
time XEN_OS is the host os name, but symlinks won't be created
because they are already there
4. libraries get the wrong headers and fail to build
Since both tools and stubdom build need the public headers, we build
tools/include before stubdom and tools. Remove runes in stubdom and
tools to avoid building tools/include more than once.
Provide a new dist target for tools/include. Hook up the install,
clean, dist and distclean targets for tools/include.
The new arrangement ensures tools build gets the correct headers
because XEN_OS is set to host os when building tools/include. As for
stubdom, it explicitly links to the mini-os directory without relying
on XEN_OS so it should be fine.

The debug option in Config.mk affects hypervisor, tools and stubdom by
appending different flags to CFLAGS. Mini-os under extra is not
affected because it already has its own build system when it is
separated from xen.git.
It is undesirable because now hypervisor build is affected by both
Kconfig and debug.
Disentangle the semantics of debug by pushing relevant options to
individual sub-systems.
For hypervisor, the flags previously added by debug option is now
controlled by CONFIG_DEBUG.
For tools, flags are moved from config/*.mk into tools/Rules.mk.
For stubdom, because it unilaterally sets debug=y before including
top-level Config.mk, we only need to move the debug build set of flags
into stubdom Makefile.
Specifically there are some considerations on what flags are picked:
1. we don't need -fno-optimize-sibling-calls anymore because gcc doc
indicates that it is not enabled for -O1, which we already set in the
debug build.
2. for tools we use -O0 -g3 in Rules.mk because they already take
precedence over the flags set in config/*.mk.
3. for hypervisor we don't add -fno-omit-frame-pointer to debug build
because that's controlled by CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER.
This patch doesn't intend to tune those flags, but to provide identical
set of effective flags as before. The debug option in Config.mk will
only affect tools components after this patch is applied.
