libxencall will provide a stable API and ABI for calling hypercalls
(although those hypercalls themselves may not have a stable API). As
well as the hypercall buffer infrastructure needed in order to safely
provide pointer arguments to hypercalls.
libxenctrl encapsulates a instance of this interface, so users of that
library are not currently subjected to any actual changes. However all
hypercalls made internally by libxc now use the correct interface. It
is expected that most users of this library will be other libraries
providing a higher level interface, rather than applications directly.
Only the basic functionality to allocate hypercall safe memory is
moved, the type safe stuff and bounce buffers remain in libxc.
Note that the functionality to map foreign pages using privcmd is not
yet moved, meaning that an xc_interface will now contain two open
privcmd file descriptors. Foreign memory mapping is logically separate
functionality and will be moved into its own library.
The new library uses a version script to ensure that only expected
symbols are exported and to version them such that ABI guarantees can
be kept in the future.

v2: Use our own macro to make sure ARM is not affected negatively
v3: Lifted Ian's explanation.
A number of changes to XEN_SYSCTL_topologyinfo interface:
* Instead of copying data for each field in xen_sysctl_topologyinfo separately
put cpu/socket/node into a single structure and do a single copy for each
processor.
* A NULL cputopo handle passed is a request for maximum number of CPUs
(num_cpus). If cputopo is valid and num_cpus is smaller than the number of
CPUs in the system then -ENOBUFS is returned (and correct num_cpus is provided)
* Do not use max_cpu_index, which is almost always used for calculating number
CPUs (thus requiring adding or subtracting one), replace it with num_cpus.
* There is no need to copy whole op in sysctl to user at the end, we only need
num_cpus.
* Rename xen_sysctl_topologyinfo and XEN_SYSCTL_topologyinfo to reflect the fact
that these are used for CPU topology. Subsequent patch will add support for
PCI topology sysctl.
* Replace INVALID_TOPOLOGY_ID with "XEN_"-prefixed macros for each invalid type
(core, socket, node).

In libxl, make libxl_get_max_{cpus,nodes}() always return either a

Cpumap types in tools (libxc and libxl) are changed to be based on bytes like
in the interface to the hypervisor.
To make handling easier the size of used cpumaps is always based on the
number of physical cpus supported by the hypervisor. This eliminates the need
to keep track of the cpumap size in external interfaces.
In libxl a macro for cycling through a cpumap is added (libxl_for_each_cpu).
Interfaces changed:
libxl_set_vcpuaffinity()
libxl_cpumap_alloc()
xc_vcpu_setaffinity()
xc_vcpu_getaffinity()
xc_cpupool_freeinfo()

This patch eliminate the global variables in libxenctrl (used for
logging and error reporting).
Instead the information which was in the global variables is now in a
new xc_interface* opaque structure, which xc_interface open returns
instead of the raw file descriptor; furthermore, logging is done via
xentoollog.
There are three new parameters to xc_interface_open to control the
logging, but existing callers can just pass "0" for all three to get
the old behaviour.
All libxc callers have been adjusted accordingly.
Also update QEMU_TAG for corresponding qemu change.

xc_map_foreign_bulk() should clear the error indication array upon

(along with the other arrays) instead of using realloc() (without
error checking) in the loop body.

buffers via a new interface which allows them to be 'bounced' into a
pre-mlock'ed page-sized per-thread data area. This saves the cost of

Replace all calls to xc_map_foreign_batch() where the caller doesn't
look at the passed in array to check for errors by calls to
xc_map_foreign_pages(). Replace all remaining calls by such to the
newly introduced xc_map_foreign_bulk().
As a sideband modification (needed while writing the patch to ensure
they're unused) eliminate unused parameters to
uncanonicalize_pagetable() and xc_map_foreign_batch_single(). Also
unmap live_p2m_frame_list earlier in map_and_save_p2m_table(),
reducing the peak amount of virtual address space required.

the time being.
