Wen Congyang 794347f5e3 remus: don't do failover if we don't have a consistent state
We will have a consistent state when a CHECKPOINT_END record
is received. After the first CHECKPOINT_END record is received,
we will buffer all records until the next CHECKPOINT_END record
is received. So if the checkpoint() callback returns XGR_CHECKPOINT_FAILOVER,
we only can do failover if ctx->restore.buffer_all_records is
true.

Boris Ostrovsky 38a048a3c6 libxc: Defer initialization of start_page for HVM guests
With commit 8c45adec18 ("libxc: create unmapped initrd in domain
builder if supported") location of ramdisk may not be available to
HVMlite guests by the time alloc_magic_pages_hvm() is invoked if the
guest supports unmapped initrd.

So let's move ramdisk info initialization (along with a few other
operations that are not directly related to allocating magic/special
pages) from alloc_magic_pages_hvm() to bootlate_hvm().

Since we now split allocation and mapping of the start_info segment
let's stash it, along with cmdline length, in xc_dom_image so that we
can check whether we are mapping correctly-sized range.

We can also stop using xc_dom_image.start_info_pfn and leave it for
PV(H) guests only.

Roger Pau Monné d23da94b12 Revert "libxc: create an initial FPU state for HVM guests"
This reverts commit d64dbbcc7c:

Xen always set the FPU as initialized when loading a HVM context, so libxc
has to provide a valid FPU context when setting the CPU registers.

This was a stop-gap measure in order to unblock OSSTest Windows 7 failures
while a proper fix for the HVM CPU save/restore is being worked on.

This can now be reverted because a proper fix is in place and we can signal
in the save record whether the FPU is initialized or not.

When copying boot command string for HVMlite guests we explicitly write

We don't need to limit the size of command string to some arbitrary

Set the SIF_VIRT_P2M_4TOOLS flag for pv-domUs in the domain builder

This will enable pv-domUs to drop support of the 3 level p2m tree

Juergen Gross 8429374f44 libxc: stop migration in case of p2m list structural changes
With support of the virtual mapped linear p2m list for migration it is
now possible to detect structural changes of the p2m list which before
would either lead to a crashing or otherwise wrong behaving domU.

A guest supporting the linear p2m list will increment the
p2m_generation counter located in the shared info page before and after
each modification of a mapping related to the p2m list. A change of
that counter can be detected by the tools and reacted upon.

As such a change should occur only very rarely once the domU is up the
most simple reaction is to cancel migration in such an event.

Juergen Gross 91e204d37f libxc: try to find last used pfn when migrating
For migration the last used pfn of a guest is needed to size the
logdirty bitmap and as an upper bound of the page loop. Unfortunately
there are pv-kernels advertising a much higher maximum pfn as they
are really using in order to support memory hotplug. This will lead
to allocation of much more memory in Xen tools during migration as
really needed.

Try to find the last used guest pfn of a pv-domu by scanning the p2m
tree from the last entry towards it's start and search for an entry
not being invalid.

Normally the mid pages of the p2m tree containing all invalid entries
are being reused, so we can just scan the top page for identical
entries and skip them but the first one.

There were some problems with the original memory allocation functions:
1. xc_dom_alloc_segment and xc_dom_alloc_pad ended up calling

2. xc_dom_alloc_pad didn't call dom->allocate.

2. xc_dom_chk_alloc_pages calls dom->allocate.

This way we avoid scattering dom->allocate over multiple locations and

Juergen Gross f3627f009a libxc: introduce domain builder architecture specific data
Reorganize struct xc_dom_image to contain a pointer to domain builder
architecture specific private data. This will abstract the architecture
or domain type specific data from the general used data.

The new area is allocated as soon as the domain type is known.

Juergen Gross ddb13e7022 libxc: rename domain builder count_pgtables to alloc_pgtables
Rename the count_pgtables hook of the domain builder to alloc_pgtables
and do the allocation of the guest memory for page tables inside this
hook. This will remove the need for accessing the x86 specific pgtables
member of struct xc_dom_image in the generic domain builder code.

Juergen Gross ea7c8a3d0e libxc: reorganize domain builder guest memory allocator
Guest memory allocation in the domain builder of libxc is done via
virtual addresses only. In order to be able to support preallocated
areas not virtually mapped reorganize the memory allocator to keep
track of allocated pages globally and in allocated segments.

This requires an interface change of the allocate callback of the
domain builder which currently is using the last mapped virtual
address as a parameter. This is no problem as the only user of this
callback is stubdom/grub/kexec.c using this virtual address to
calculate the last used pfn.

Juergen Gross 512d4d9605 libxc: remove most of tools/libxc/xc_dom_compat_linux.c
In tools/libxc/xc_dom_compat_linux.c xc_linux_build() is the only
domain building function used by an in-tree component (qemu-xen) which
is really necessary.

Remove the other domain building functions and the unused python
wrapper xc.linux_build() referencing one of the to be removed
functions.

Jan Beulich 5c23c760a8 x86/HVM: correct page dirty marking in hvm_map_guest_frame_rw()
Rather than dirtying a page when establishing a (permanent) mapping,
dirty it when the page gets unmapped, or - if still mapped - on the
final iteration of a save operation (or in other cases where the guest
is paused or already shut down). (Transient mappings continue to get
dirtied upon getting mapped, to avoid the overhead of tracking.)
