Juergen Gross 512d4d9605 libxc: remove most of tools/libxc/xc_dom_compat_linux.c
In tools/libxc/xc_dom_compat_linux.c xc_linux_build() is the only
domain building function used by an in-tree component (qemu-xen) which
is really necessary.

Remove the other domain building functions and the unused python
wrapper xc.linux_build() referencing one of the to be removed
functions.

Wei Liu 598e97fdd0 tools/python: remove broken xl binding
Various people say this binding doesn't compile or doesn't work. Remove
it for the benefit of xl feature development -- so that new features
won't need to worry about making this broken binding happy.

This isn't going to expose any user visible changes because that module
is not built by default.

Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk d0edc15a6c tmem: Move TMEM_CONTROL subop of tmem hypercall to sysctl.
The operations are to be used by an control domain to set parameters,
list pools, clients, and to be used during migration.

There is no need to have them in the tmem hypercall path.

This patch moves code without adding fixes - and in fact in
some cases makes the parameters soo long that they hurt eyes - but
that is for another patch.

Note that in regards to existing users:

 - Only the control domain could call it - which meant that if
a guest called it would get -EPERM, so we are OK there.
In practice no guests called this TMEM_CONTROL command.

 - The spec: https://oss.oracle.com/projects/tmem/dist/documentation/api/tmemspec-v001.pdf
mentions: "TBD [Not sure if this is really needed.]"
which is a carte blanche as any to do this!

Note: The XSM check is the same - we just move it from do_tmem_op
to do_sysctl.

We also add an 32-bit pad to make the sysctl structure have the same
exact size under 32 and 64-bit toolstacks and not worry about aligment
issues.

And the XLAT does not need to deal with the buf as it has been
moved to another structure which is 32/64 fixed.

Zhigang Wang d1ef21a5d1 python/xc: add missing Py_DECREF() to fix a memory leak
Python PyList_Append() will increase reference count of the item. We have to
decrease its reference count to let it garbage collected.

We missed the Py_DECREF() for 'cpuinfo_obj' here, thus we have a memory leak.

The memory leak could be easily confirmed by:

  # python
  >>> import xen.lowlevel.xc
  >>> xc = xen.lowlevel.xc.xc()
  >>> for i in range(1000): xc.getcpuinfo(1)

And check the python process memory usage before and after:

Wei Liu ec55a3ae01 python/xc: reinstate original implementation of next_bdf
I missed the fact that next_bdf is used to parsed user supplied

we can't change the syntax of that string.

A number of changes to XEN_SYSCTL_numainfo interface:

* Make sysctl NUMA topology query use fewer copies by combining some

* NULL meminfo and distance handles are a request for maximum number
of nodes (num_nodes). If those handles are valid and num_nodes is
is smaller than the number of nodes in the system then -ENOBUFS is
returned (and correct num_nodes is provided)
* Instead of using max_node_index for passing number of nodes keep this
value in num_nodes: almost all uses of max_node_index required adding

Ian Jackson 0013245473 tools: work around collision of -O0 and -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE
Some systems have python-config include -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE in the
CFLAGS. But -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE does not (currently) work with -O0, and
-O0 is enabled in debug builds (since 1166ecf781). As a result, on
those systems, debug builds fail.

Work around this problem as follows:
 * In configure, detect -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE in $(python-config --cflags)
 * If detected, set the new autoconf substitution and make variable
   PY_NOOPT_CFLAGS to -O1.
 * In tools/Rules.mk, where we add -O0, also add PY_NOOPT_CFLAGS
(which will override the -O0 with -O1 if required).

Overriding the -O0 is better than disabling Fortify because the
latter might have an adverse security impact. A user who wants to
disable optimisation completely even for Python and also disable
Fortify can set the environment variable
    EXTRA_CFLAGS_XEN_TOOLS='-U_FORTIFY_SOURCE -O0'

Andrew Cooper 3f727fb1a7 python/xc: Fix multiple issues in pyflask_context_to_sid()
The error handling from a failed memory allocation should return
PyErr_SetFromErrno(xc_error_obj); rather than simply calling it and continuing
to the memcpy() below, with the dest pointer being NULL.

Coverity also complains about passing a non-NUL terminated string to
xc_flask_context_to_sid().  xc_flask_context_to_sid() doesn't actually take a
NUL terminated string, but it does take a char* which, in context, used to be
a string, which is why Coverity complains.

One solution would be to use strdup(ctx) which is simpler than a
strlen()/malloc()/memcpy() combo, which would result in a NUL-terminated
string being used with xc_flask_context_to_sid().

However, ctx is strictly an input to the hypercall and is not mutated along
the way. Both these issues can be fixed, and the error logic simplified, by
not duplicating ctx in the first place.

Stefano Stabellini 31d2d1e08a Move xenstore and libxc public headers to include subdir
Also moves xc_dom.h to include as it is used often by other xen tools.
Use the new include subdirectories to build Xen tools, qemu-xen and
stubdoms.

Add the old libxc include path to the programs that need it to build,
on a case by case basis and commeting that they shouldn't require
internal libxc headers to build.

[ And: update QEMU_TRADITIONAL_REVISION to corresponding qemu patch

David Vrabel 0a9daad380 libxc: add xc_hvm_param_get/set() to get/set 64-bit values
HVMOP_get_param and HVMOP_set_param take a uint32_t for the parameter
index and a uint64_t for the value. So add xc_hvm_param_get() and

The existing xc_get_hvm_param() and xc_set_hvm_param() are retained

Dario Faggioli 6cc89d3101 libxc: get and set soft and hard affinity
by using the flag and the new cpumap arguments introduced in
the parameters of the DOMCTL_{get,set}_vcpuaffinity hypercalls.

Now, both xc_vcpu_setaffinity() and xc_vcpu_getaffinity() have
a new flag parameter, to specify whether the user wants to
set/get hard affinity, soft affinity or both. They also have
two cpumap parameters instead of only one. This way, it is
possible to set/get both hard and soft affinity at the same
time (and, in case of set, each one to its own value).

In xc_vcpu_setaffinity(), the cpumaps are IN/OUT parameters,
as it is for the corresponding arguments of the
DOMCTL_set_vcpuaffinity hypercall. What Xen puts there is the
hard and soft effective affinity, that is what Xen will actually
use for scheduling.

In-tree callers are also fixed to cope with the new interface.

Ian Campbell 9e8672f1c3 tools: remove xend and associated python modules
I've retained xen.lowlevel.{xc,xs} since they seem more widely useful. I also
kept xen.lowlevel.xl even though it is disabled by default and IMHO useless in
its current form.

I've tried to clean up the various associated bits like example configs, init
scripts, udev rules etc but no doubt I have missed something, those can easily
be cleaned up later.

I've also removed xm-test since although it could in theory be reworked to
test xl it hasn't been touched for years. If someone wants to resurrect it
then they could do so via the git history.

This has been built but not runtime tested.

Olaf Hering 2256f09ee5 tools/xend: move assert to exception block
The two assert in restore trigger sometimes after hundreds of
migrations. If they trigger the destination host will not destroy the
newly created, yet empty guest. After a second migration attempt to this
host there will be two guets with the same name and uuid. This situation
is poorly handled by the xm tools.
With this change the empty guest will be destroyed.

Ian Jackson 7b0360b761 libxc: suspend: Fix suspend event channel locking
Use fcntl F_SETLK, rather than writing our pid into a "lock" file.
That way if we crash we don't leave the lockfile lying about. Callers
now need to keep the fd for our lockfile. (We don't use flock because
we don't want anyone who inherits this fd across fork to end up with a
handle onto the lock.)

While we are here:
 * Move the lockfile to /var/run/xen
 * De-duplicate the calculation of the pathname
 * Compute the buffer size for the pathname so that it will definitely
not overrun (and use the computed value everywhere)
 * Fix various error handling bugs

Ian Jackson d310a8339c libxc: suspend: Rename, improve xc_suspend_evtchn_init
xc_suspend_evtchn_init expects to eat the first event on the xce. If
the xce is used for any other purpose then this can break. Document
this fact and rename the function to xc_suspend_evtchn_init_exclusive.
(I haven't checked the call sites for improper shared use of the xce.)

Provide a corresponding xc_suspend_evtchn_init_sane which doesn't try
to eat an event, and instead leaves the caller the ability to
demultiplex.

Also document that xc_await_suspend needs exclusive use of the xce.
