Python distutils is deprecated and is going to be removed in Python

stdlib since Python 2.7 and Python 3.2, so use that directly.

Update the README to reflect that we now depend on Python 2.7.

Jan Beulich 82f7f7be46 libxenstat/Linux: pass nul-terminated string to strpbrk()
While what "tmp" points to has been cleared at the end of the first
iteration of parseNetDevLine()'s main loop, this is too late for the
first iteration's invocation of strpbrk() (copying the interface name).
Properly nul-terminate the string at population time instead, removing
the late clearing.

While there also eliminate a confusing (because of being wrong) comment:
A regex parsing error would be handled one further scope outwards. Here
we're dealing with field 1 vs any of the later fields.

Anthony PERARD 98d95437ed libs: Fix auto-generation of version-script for unstable libs
When there isn't a version-script for a shared library (like for
unstable libs), we create one based on the current Xen version. But
that version-script became out-of-date as soon as Xen's version
changes and make as no way to regenerate the version-script on
rebuild.

For unstable libs, we only needs the symver to be different from a
previous release of Xen. There's an option "--default-symver" which
allow to use the soname as symver and as the soname have the Xen
release version, it will be different for every release. With
--default-symver we don't need to generate a version-script.

But we also need to know if there's already an existing version script
, for that we introduce $(version-script) to be used to point to the
path of the existing script. (Guessing if a version script exist for a
stable library with for example $(wildcard) won't work as a file will
exist when building the library without this patch.)

We don't need the version-script unless we are making the shared
library so it is removed from the "all" target.

Anthony PERARD 9ae030da5c libs/stat: Fix and rework perl-binding build
For PERL_FLAGS, use make's shell rather than a backquote.

Rather than relying on the VCS to create an empty directory for us,
we can create one before generating the *.c file for the bindings.

Make use of generic variable names to build a shared library from a
source file: CFLAGS, LDFLAGS, and LDLIBS.

To build a shared library, we need to build the source file with
"-fPIC", which was drop by 6d0ec05390 (tools: split libxenstat into
new tools/libs/stat directory).

The source file generated by swig seems to be missing many prototype for
many functions, so we need "-Wno-missing-prototypes" in order to
build it. Also, one of the prototype is deemed malformed, so we also
need "-Wno-strict-prototypes".

Anthony PERARD 1e98396145 libs/stat: Fix and rework python-bindings build
Fix the dependency on the library, $(SHLIB) variable doesn't exist
anymore.

Rework dependency on the include file, we can let `swig` generate the
dependency for us with the use of "-M*" flags.

The xenstat.h file has moved so we need to fix the include location.

Rather than relaying on the VCS to create an empty directory for us,
we can create one before generating the *.c file for the bindings.

Make use of generic variable names to build a shared library from a
source file: CFLAGS, LDFLAGS, and LDLIBS.

Fix python's specific *flags by using python-config, and add them to
generic flags variables: CFLAGS, LDLIBS.

To build a shared library, we need to build the source file with
"-fPIC", which was drop by 6d0ec05390 (tools: split libxenstat into
new tools/libs/stat directory).

The source file generated by swig seems to be missing a prototype for
the "init" function, so we need "-Wno-missing-prototypes" in order to
build it.

Anthony PERARD e62cc29f9b tools/libs: Fix build dependencies
Some libs' Makefile aren't loading the dependencies files *.d2.

We can load them from "libs.mk" as none of the Makefile here are
changing $(DEPS) or $(DEPS_INCLUDE) so it is fine to move the

As a little improvement, don't load the dependencies files (and thus

Hans Reiser cd5058316c tools/libxenstat: Fix infinite loop when QEMU dies
Occasionally, "dead" xentop processes consuming 100% CPU time have been
observed.

When the QEMU process the qmp_read() function is communicating with
terminates, qmp_read() may enter an infinite loop. poll() signals EOF (POLLIN
and POLLHUP set), the subsequent read() call returns 0, and then the function
calls poll() again, which still sees the EOF condition and will return again
immediately with POLLIN and POLLHUP set, repeating ad infinitum.

A simple fix is to terminate the loop when read returns 0 (under "normal"
instances, poll will return with POLLIN set only if there is data to read, so
read will always read >0 bytes, except if the socket has been closed).
