Current libxl code will always enable Hardware Assisted Paging (HAP),
expecting that the hypervisor will fallback to shadow if HAP is not
available. With the changes to DOMCTL_createdomain that's not the case
any longer, and the hypervisor will raise an error if HAP is not
available instead of silently falling back to shadow.
In order to keep the previous functionality report whether HAP is
available or not in XEN_SYSCTL_physinfo, so that the toolstack can
select a sane default if there's no explicit user selection of whether
HAP should be used.
Note that on ARM hardware HAP capability is always reported since it's
a required feature in order to run Xen.

Each HVM guest currently gets a vkbd frontend/backend pair (c/s ebbd2561b4).
This consumes host resources unnecessarily for guests that have no use for

If a domU has a qemu-xen instance attached, it is required to call qemus
"xen-save-devices-state" method. Without it, the receiving side of a PV or
PVH migration may be unable to lock the image:
xen be: qdisk-51712: xen be: qdisk-51712: error: Failed to get "write" lock
error: Failed to get "write" lock
xen be: qdisk-51712: xen be: qdisk-51712: initialise() failed
initialise() failed
To fix this bug, libxl__domain_suspend_device_model() and
libxl__domain_resume_device_model() have to be called not only for HVM,
but also if the active device_model is QEMU_XEN.
Unfortunately, libxl__domain_build_info_setdefault() used to hardcode
b_info->device_model_version to QEMU_XEN if it does not know it any
better. As a result libxl__device_model_version_running() will return
incorrect values. This breaks domUs without a device_model.
libxl__qmp_stop() would wait 10 seconds in qmp_open() for a qemu that
will never appear. During this long timeframe the domU remains in state
paused on the sending side. As a result network connections may be
dropped. Once this bug is fixed as well, by just removing the assumption
that every domU has a QEMU_XEN, there is no code to actually initialise
b_info->device_model_version.
There is a helper function libxl__need_xenpv_qemu(), which is used in
various places to decide if a device_model has to be spawned. This
function can not be used as is, just to fill device_model_version,
because store_libxl_entry() was already called earlier.
Introduce LIBXL_DEVICE_MODEL_VERSION_NONE for PV and PVH that have no
need for a device_model to make the state explicit. Indicate this new
state via LIBXL_HAVE macro in libxl.h.

This patch introduces an implementation of the STIMER0-15_CONFIG/COUNT MSRs

The new (and documented) 'stimer' viridian enlightenment group may be
specified to enable this feature.
While in the neighbourhood, this patch adds a missing check for an
attempt to write the time reference count MSR, which should result in an
exception (but not be reported as an unimplemented MSR).
NOTE: It is necessary for correct operation that timer expiration and
message delivery time-stamping use the same time source as the guest.
The specification is ambiguous but testing with a Windows 10 1803
guest has shown that using the partition reference counter as a
source whilst the guest is using RDTSC and the reference tsc page
does not work correctly. Therefore the time_now() function is used.
This implements the algorithm for acquiring partition reference time
that is documented in the specifiction.

Similar functionality to libxl_domain_suspend(), but do not save domains
state to any file. Only suspend the domain and keep it in suspended
shutdown state (do not destroy it). Such domain can be later woken up
with libxl_domain_resume. The main reason for this functionality is to
suspend the host while some domains are running, potentially holding PCI
devices. This will give a chance to a driver in such a domain to
properly suspend the device.

This is API-compatible because old callers are supposed to call
libxl_*_init to initialise the struct; and the updated function clears
these members.
It is ABI-compatible because the new fields make this member of the
guest type union larger but only within the existing size of that
union.
Unfortunately it is not easy to backport because it depends on the PVH
domain type. Attempts to avoid use of the PVH domain type involved
working with two views of the configuration: the "underlying" domain
type and the "visible" type (and corresponding config info). Also
there are different sets of config settings for PV and PVH, which
callers would have to know to set.
And, unfortunately, it will not be possible, with this approach, to
enable the shim by default for all libxl callers. (Although it could
perhaps be done in xl.)
For now, our config defaults are:
* if enabled, path is "xen-shim" in the xen firmware directory
* if enabled, cmdline is the one we are currently debugging with
The debugging arguments will be rationalised in a moment.
