Running "make uninstall" does not remove all installed files, a
situation which might cause link related issues if xen is re-installed
in a different location.
In order to make uninstall correctly remove the files it is best
the process should be done recursively by mirroring each "install"
target with an "uninstall" who removes the installed files.
An exception to this rule is uninstalling the files produced by
"qemu-xen-dir-remote" and "qemu-xen-traditional-dir", which are external
to the project. These projects do not implement an "uninstall" target so
the files have to be removed manually.

Some of the changed files are imports from elsewhere, however
filtering them out is tricky, I think it is tolerable to have these

since it's only 1-2 lines and obvious what is going on.

binutils 2.22 changed ld default from --copy-dt-needed-entries
to -no-copy-dt-needed-entries. This revealed that some objects
are linked implicitly with libtinfo and newer ld fails to build
relevant executables.
Below is short explanation why we should not do that...
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/UnderstandingDSOLinkChange says:
The default behaviour for ld (my note: before version 2.22) allows
users to 'indirectly' link to required objects/libraries through
intermediate objects/libraries. While this is convenient, it can
also be dangerous because it makes your program's dependencies tied
to the dependencies of other objects. If those objects ever change
their linkages, they can break your program without any changes
to your own code!

Now that Xen uses qdisks by default and qemu does not write out
statistics to sysfs this patch queries the QMP for disk statistics.
This patch depends on libyajl for parsing statistics returned from
QMP. The runtime requires libyajl 2.0.3 or newer for required bug
fixes in yajl_tree_parse().
Libxl is modified to create a new socket dedicated for the use of
libxenstat for querying the block statistics using QMP.
The current APIs remain unchanged. It works within the existing
framework of libxenstat.

Coverity uses several heuristics to identify when one case statement
legitimately falls through into the next, and a comment as the final item in a
case statement is one heuristic (the assumption being that it is a
justification for the fallthrough).
Use this to perform an audit of defects and hide the legitimate fallthroughs.
There are two bugfixes identified in the audit, both minor:
* 'n' command line handling for gtracestat
* BKSPC handling in xentop
All other identified defaults are legitimate fallthoughs

The original rule to target "distclean" in tools/Rules.mk was in effect
"make clean". It should be "make distclean".
However not all Makefiles in subdirectories have distclean target
defined. So this patch also adds a bunch of distclean targets to various
Makefiles. They only depend on clean target and don't have any actions
in most cases.
With the patch applied, following command outputs 0 results:
find tools -name 'Makefile*' -exec grep -L 'distclean' {} \+ \
| grep -v ocaml | grep -v libfsimage
Ocaml and libfsimage are known to have distclean defined in a dedicated
rules file.

also be aligned based on the longest name in the NAME column.

Currently, xentop calls clear() before drawing the screen and calling
refresh(). This causes the entire screen to be repainted from scratch
on each call to refresh(). It is inefficient and causes visible flicker
when using xentop.
This patch fixes this by calling erase() instead of clear() which overwrites
the current screen with blanks instead. The screen is then drawn as usual
in the top() function and refresh() is called. This method allows curses
to only repaint the characters that have changed since the last call
to refresh(), thus avoiding the flicker and sending fewer characters to
the terminal.
In the event the screen becomes corrupted, this patch accepts a CTRL-L
keystroke from the user which will call clear() and force a repaint of
the entire screen.

If you use -MMD -MF then the correct .o filename is written to the
.*.d file as the compiler driver arranges everything. This was done
in 19010:275abe1c5d24 for the hypervisor.
In this patch we do the same elsewhere in the xen-unstable tree,
particularly tools/. Specifically:
* Change tools/Rules.mk to add -MMD -MF ... to CFLAGS and set DEPS.
* Remove -Wp,-MD... from every other Makefile
* Remove setting of DEPS from every other Makefile
* Ensure that every Makefile says -include $(DEPS)
* Ensure that every Makefile's clean target removes $(DEPS)
Some Makefiles were already halfway there, but often for a different
variable name eg PROG_DEP. The variable name is now standardised in
Rules.mk as DEPS.
I have done a test build with this change, on Debian etch.
