Anthony PERARD 27d3ea41e6 Config.mk: Remove unused setvar_dir macro 
And remove all mention of it in docs. It hasn't been used since
9ead9afcb9 ("Add configure --with-sysconfig-leaf-dir=SUBDIR to set
CONFIG_LEAF_DIR").

Olaf Hering 9ead9afcb9 Add configure --with-sysconfig-leaf-dir=SUBDIR to set CONFIG_LEAF_DIR 
Set CONFIG_LEAF_DIR with configure to give control if needed. The
check for the correct value if the option is not specified is tricky.
Since other packages (such as grub2) started to populate also
/etc/default/ a given system may have both directories.
Use "default" only if /etc/sysconfig does not exist. "sysconfig"
remains the default.

Move the variable from StdGNU.mk to Linux.mk because thats the only
place where it is used.

Preserve existing behaviour: Fedora gets rc.d/init.d, BSD gets rc.d,
everyone else gets init.d.

Olaf Hering 0021ddc1c1 remove obsolete SUBSYS_DIR variable 
/var/run is a runtime directory. It is not supposed to be packaged.
Remove unused SUBSYS_DIR variable from Config.mk and distro_mapping.txt.

Ian Jackson 39ae85c6ee tools, build system: Detect distro-variant directories at build-time 
In b59f87f56b1e, the defaults for some of the directory config
variables implicitly changed.  In this commit we arrange for the
defaults to be auto-detected (with the same logic as the run-time
scripts use).

This will make the build more likely to produce answers which the
builder intends.  (And, in particular, it should un-break the
automated tests, which didn't set these variables explicitly and
therefore got broken by b59f87f56b1e.)

744d6961f9 tools, build system: Make changing distro-specific layout aspects easier 
Introduce CONFIG_LEAF_DIR, SUBSYS_DIR, INITD_DIR variables to cope
better with variation between distributions.
