kfraser@localhost.localdomain aacef84b33 In order to allow building as non-root with a non-default CC (which 
root may not have access to through its $PATH), defer the generation
of an error until CC is actually needed.

Keir Fraser cfcf0ae284 Xen and tools now require gcc 3.4+ on x86. 
- gcc-3.2 cannot handle some multi-line assertions in the Xen
 sources. Noone noticed.
 - gcc-3.3 has problems with alignment constraints inside typedefs.

gcc 3.4.0 is now three years old so I hope that everyone has an
up-to-date compiler, or can obtain a more up-to-date package for their
distribution. If not we may need to fall back to supporting gcc-3.3.x
as well.

Also clean up the way we do version checks, using the power of awk.

Ian Campbell 8e84e3f524 [TOOLS] Fix foreign header build breakage. 
Having both the Xen tree and the tools tree recurse into the foreign
headers directory causes headaches in parallel builds and when
building 32-bit tools + 64 bit Xen in the same tree.

Therefore we cause mk-symlinks to symlink in the foreign headers build
bits and generate a local version of the headers and checker tool.

Only libxc needs to do this since the other tools were actually
picking up the libxc version of the headers anyway so the mk-symlinks
calls can be removed from these components.

Ian Campbell 0a957ea75a Push the target to build foreign headers into tools and xen 
directories.  This allows those directories to be built independently
without relying on the toplevel Makefile.

Emmanuel Ackaouy eb4166af59 Generate headers with arch-specific structs. 
This patch adds a script to generate headers with arch-specific
structs which can be included on any architecture.  Can be used
to deal with structs of "foreign" architectures, needed for
32-on-64 support for example.

kaf24@firebug.cl.cam.ac.uk 0e535dd1ce This is the first patch to move the console code out of Xend and into a 
separate daemon.  In this patch I've included the daemon and a 
front-end.  I've also have the console code removed from Xend locally 
but I wanted to clarify a few things first before submitting that.

Here's how it works:

1) Daemon sits on control channel (via xcs) waiting for console messages
2) Buffers all console data received
3) Publishes the location of a tty that can be used for reading in 
/console/<domid>/tty
4) Reads a value from the store to determine what the limit of console 
data should be (/console/<domid>/limit) to prevent DoS attacks

Using it is quite simple, just run consoled and use the xc_console 
program to connect to the console.  It uses syslog for logging.

No longer override target arch with ARCH but instead use TARGET_ARCH.
Xen now requires specification of TARGET_ARCH alone, not TARGET_ARCH
