Michal Orzel 200fd08714 automation: test.yaml: Introduce templates to reduce the overhead
At the moment, we define lots of test jobs in test.yaml, that make use
of the same configuration sections like variables, tags, artifacts.
Introduce templates (hidden jobs whose names start with a dot) to
reduce the overhead and simplify the file (more than 100 lines saved).
This way, the actual jobs can only specify sections that are unique
to them.

Most of the test jobs specify the same set of prerequisite jobs under
needs property with just one additional being unique to the job itself.
Introduce YAML anchors for that purpose, because when using extends, the
needs property is not being merged (the parent property overwrites the
child one).

Michal Orzel 9b29d5b7ee automation: Rename qemu-smoke-arm32.sh to qemu-smoke-dom0-arm32.sh
After qemu arm64 test scripts had been renamed to reflect their
usage, do the same for the qemu arm32 test script. Currently it only
boots dom0, so we can assume that this script will be used to perform
dom0 based testing. In the future we will be able to create corresponding
script qemu-smoke-dom0less-arm32.sh to perform dom0less based testing.
This is the last step to get rid of ambiguity with regards to naming
of Arm test scripts.

Michal Orzel 50f8e191e6 automation: Rename qemu-smoke-arm64.sh to qemu-smoke-dom0less-arm64.sh
Testing arm64 is done using the qemu-alpine-arm64.sh and
qemu-smoke-arm64.sh scripts. These scripts are executed with exactly
the same artifacts (container, rootfs, kernel, qemu) and the only
difference is that the former is used to perform dom0 based testing
and the latter - dom0less based testing.

Because the current naming is quite ambiguous, rename qemu-smoke-arm64.sh
script to qemu-smoke-dom0less-arm64.sh to reflect its usage.

qemu-alpine-arm64.sh will be renamed in the follow-up patch.

Perform the following cleanup:
- rename the device tree from virt-gicv3 to virt-gicv2 as the GIC version

- use fdtput to perform modifications on the dtb,
- use DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive to prevent interactive prompt being

- fix the number of cpus in the device tree because currently we generate

Take an example from arm64 qemu test scripts and use ImageBuilder

Michal Orzel ef9cc669ba automation: Build Xen according to the type of the job
All the build jobs exist in two flavors: debug and non-debug, where the
former sets 'debug' variable to 'y' and the latter to 'n'. This variable
is only being recognized by the toolstack, because Xen requires
enabling/disabling debug build via e.g. menuconfig/config file.
As a corollary, we end up building/testing Xen with CONFIG_DEBUG always
set to a default value ('y' for unstable and 'n' for stable branches),
regardless of the type of the build job.

Fix this behavior by setting CONFIG_DEBUG according to the 'debug' value.

Michal Orzel bd68a5f397 automation: Use custom build jobs when extra config options are needed
Currently, all the arm64 defconfig build jobs, regardless of the
container used, end up building Xen with the extra config options
specified in the main build script (e.g. CONFIG_EXPERT,
CONFIG_STATIC_MEMORY). Because these options are only needed for
specific test jobs, the current behavior of the CI is incorrect
as we add the extra options to all the defconfig builds. This means
that on arm64 there is not a single job performing proper defconfig build.

To fix this issue, add custom build jobs each time there is a need for
building Xen with additional config options. Introduce EXTRA_XEN_CONFIG
variable to be used by these jobs to store the required options. This
variable will be then read by the main build script to modify the .config
file. This will also help users to understand what is needed to run specific
test.

Add a new test job qemu-smoke-arm64-gcc-boot-cpupools that will execute

Enable CONFIG_BOOT_TIME_CPUPOOLS for the arm64 build and add a new test

assign it to domU. Add a check in dom0 xen.start to see if domU is
assigned a Pool-1 with null scheduler.

Take the opportunity to refactor the qemu-smoke-arm64.sh script as
follows:
 - use domU_check to store the test's commands to be run from domU
 - use dom0_check to store the test's commands to be run from dom0
 - use fdtput instead of sed to perform dtb modifications
 - use more meaningful messages for "passed" variable. This way we can

Stefano Stabellini 43f3d51139 gitlab-ci: add an ARM32 qemu-based smoke test
Add a minimal ARM32 smoke test based on qemu-system-arm, as provided by
the test-artifacts qemu container. The minimal test simply boots Xen
(built from previous build stages) and Dom0.

The test needs a working kernel and minimal initrd for dom0. Instead of
building our own kernel and initrd, which would mean maintaining one or
two more builting scripts under automation/, we borrow a kernel and
initrd from distros.

For the kernel we pick the Debian Bullseye kernel, which has everything
we need already built-in. However, we cannot use the Debian Bullseye
initrd because it is 22MB and the large size causes QEMU to core dump.

Instead, use the tiny busybox-based rootfs provided by Alpine Linux,
which is really minimal: just 2.5MB. Note that we cannot use the Alpine
Linux kernel because that doesn't boot on Xen.

Anthony PERARD 5d15f905b9 automation: switch GitLab x86 smoke test to use PV 64bit binary
Xen is now built without CONFIG_PV32 by default and thus test jobs
"qemu-smoke-x86-64-gcc" and "qemu-smoke-x86-64-clang" fails because
they are using XTF's "test-pv32pae-example" which is an hello word
32bit PV guest.

As we are looking for whether Xen boot or not with a quick smoke test,
just use 64bit tests instead.

Olaf Hering ea7f91ded5 automation: use zypper dup in tumbleweed dockerfile
The 'dup' command aligns the installed packages with the packages
found in the enabled repositories, taking the repository priorities
into account. Using this command is generally a safe thing to do.

In the context of Tumbleweed using 'dup' is essential, because package
versions might be downgraded, and package names occasionally change.
Only 'dup' will do the correct thing in such cases.
