Jason Andryuk 76a484193d hotplug: Update block-tap
Implement a sharing check like the regular block script.

Checking tapback inside block-tap is too late since it needs to be
running to transition the backend to InitWait before block-tap is run.

tap-ctl check will be removed when the requirement for the blktap kernel
driver is removed. Remove it now as it is of limited use.

find_device() needs to be non-fatal allow a sharing check.

Only write physical-device-path because that is all that tapback needs.
Also write_dev doesn't handled files and would incorrectly store
physical-device as 0:0 which would confuse the minor inside tapback

Jason Andryuk e8f1bb803f block-common: Fix same_vm for no targets
same_vm is broken when the two main domains do not have targets. otvm
and targetvm are both missing, which means they get set to -1 and then
converted to empty strings:

++10697+ local targetvm=-1
++10697+ local otvm=-1
++10697+ otvm=
++10697+ othervm=/vm/cc97bc2f-3a91-43f7-8fbc-4cb92f90b4e4
++10697+ targetvm=
++10697+ local frontend_uuid=/vm/844dea4e-44f8-4e3e-8145-325132a31ca5

The final comparison returns true since the two empty strings match:

++10697+ '[' /vm/844dea4e-44f8-4e3e-8145-325132a31ca5 = /vm/cc97bc2f-3a91-43f7-8fbc-4cb92f90b4e4 -o '' = /vm/cc97bc2f-3a91-43f7-8fbc-4cb92f90b4e4 -o /vm/844dea4e-44f8-4e3e-8145-325132a31ca5 = '' -o '' = '' ']'

Replace -1 with distinct strings indicating the lack of a value and
remove the collescing to empty stings. The strings themselves will no
longer match, and that is correct.

++12364+ '[' /vm/844dea4e-44f8-4e3e-8145-325132a31ca5 = /vm/cc97bc2f-3a91-43f7-8fbc-4cb92f90b4e4 -o 'No target' = /vm/cc97bc2f-3a91-43f7-8fbc-4cb92f90b4e4 -o /vm/844dea4e-44f8-4e3e-8145-325132a31ca5 = 'No other target' -o 'No target' = 'No other target' ']'

Olaf Hering 9d628ff6cc tools: Fix install.sh for systemd
On a fedora system, if you run `sudo sh install.sh` you break your
system. The installation clobbers /var/run, a symlink to /run.
A subsequent boot fails when /var/run and /run are different since
accesses through /var/run can't find items that now only exist in /run
and vice-versa.

Skip populating /var/run/xen during make install.
The directory is already created by some scripts. Adjust all remaining
scripts to create XEN_RUN_DIR at runtime.

Use the shell variable XEN_RUN_DIR instead of hardcoded paths.

XEN_RUN_STORED is covered by XEN_RUN_DIR because xenstored is usually
started afterwards.

Juergen Gross 1283af6465 tools/xenstore: remove XEN_LIB_STORED and XENSTORED_ROOTDIR
XEN_LIB_STORED is serving no real purpose, as it is a mount point for
a tmpfs, so it can be replaced easily by XEN_RUN_STORED.

XENSTORED_ROOTDIR is basically unused already, there is just a single
reference in xs_daemon_rootdir() with a fallback to XEN_LIB_STORED,
and a .gdbinit file setting it.

Remove the .gdbinit file, as it is not known having been used since

Peter Hoyes 0c06760be3 tools/xendomains: Restrict domid pattern in LIST_GREP
The xendomains script uses the output of `xl list -l` to collect the
id and name of each domain, which is used in the shutdown logic, amongst
other purposes.

The linked commit added a "domid" field to libxl_domain_create_info.
This causes the output of `xl list -l` to contain two "domid"s per
domain, which may not be equal. This in turn causes `xendomains stop` to
issue two shutdown commands per domain, one of which is to a duplicate
and/or invalid domid.

To work around this, make the LIST_GREP pattern more restrictive for
domid, so it only detects the domid at the top level and not the domid
inside c_info.

Add a configuration item for the maximum number of open file
descriptors xenstored should be allowed to have.

The default should be "unlimited" in order not to restrict xenstored
in the number of domains it can support, but unfortunately the kernel
is normally limiting the maximum value via /proc/sys/fs/nr_open [1],
[2]. So check that file to exist and if it does, limit the maximum
value to the one specified by /proc/sys/fs/nr_open.

As an aid for the admin configuring the value add a comment specifying
the common needs of xenstored for the different domain types.

Jason Andryuk b72682c602 scripts: Use stat to check lock claim
Replace the perl locking check with stat(1). Stat is able to fstat
stdin (file descriptor 0) when passed '-' as an argument. This is now
used to check $_lockfd. stat(1) support for '-' was introduced to
coreutils in 2009.

After A releases its lock, script B will return from flock and execute
stat. Since the lockfile has been removed by A, stat prints an error to
stderr and exits non-zero. Redirect stderr to /dev/null to avoid
filling /var/log/xen/xen-hotplug.log with "No such file or directory"
messages.

Placing the stat call inside the "if" condition ensures we only check
the stat output when the command completed successfully.

This change removes the only runtime dependency of the xen toolstack on
perl.

Emulated devices are used by HVM guests until they are unplugged, at which

priority (i.e. lower numbered) metric than 'vif' devices.

There is also one small whitespace fix.

Ian Jackson 01097e0194 tools: init scripts: xencommons: Provides `xen'
It is useful to have a single `xen' facility (in the LSB Provides
namespace). That allows other facilities to specify that they should
go after `xen' without needing to know the implementation details.

This service name is already Provide'd by the (fairly different) init
scripts used in Debian.

Christopher Clark 09613d3b5f tools: fix uninstall: tests/x86_emulator, Linux hotplug
Fixing top-level "make uninstall":

tools/tests/x86_emulator is missing an uninstall target, which causes
failure. Trivial to add one since it installs nothing, so do that.

Linux hotplug uninstall returns success but doesn't actually remove what
it installed. The Makefile variables are obfuscating incorrect logic, so
strip them out and match existing code for xen-watchdog which does work.

Petre Pircalabu f2b40dabab Makefile: Fix uninstall target
Running "make uninstall" does not remove all installed files, a
situation which might cause link related issues if xen is re-installed
in a different location.
In order to make uninstall correctly remove the files it is best
the process should be done recursively by mirroring each "install"
target with an "uninstall" who removes the installed files.

An exception to this rule is uninstalling the files produced by
"qemu-xen-dir-remote" and "qemu-xen-traditional-dir", which are external
to the project. These projects do not implement an "uninstall" target so
the files have to be removed manually.

George Dunlap 3d2010f9ff vif-common.sh: Have iptables wait for the xtables lock
iptables has a system-wide lock on the xtables. Strangely though, in
the case of two concurrent invocations, the default is for the
instance not grabbing the lock to exit out rather than waiting for it.
This means that when starting a large number of guests in parallel,
many will fail out with messages like this:

  2017-05-10 11:45:40 UTC libxl: error: libxl_exec.c:118: libxl_report_child_exitstatus: /etc/xen/scripts/vif-bridge remove [18767] exited with error status 4
  2017-05-10 11:50:52 UTC libxl: error: libxl_exec.c:118: libxl_report_child_exitstatus: /etc/xen/scripts/vif-bridge offline [1554] exited with error status 4

In order to instruct iptables to wait for the lock, you have to
specify '-w'. Unfortunately, not all versions of iptables have the
'-w' option, so on first invocation check to see if it accepts the -w
command.
