Julien Grall 50f8ba84a5 libxl: arm: Fix build after c/s 74fd984ae
c/s 74fd984ae "tools/libxl: Drop xc_domain_configuration_t from
libxl__domain_build_state" removed state->config completely but missed
some conversion libxl_arm.c.

Furthermore, not all the fields of xc_domain_configuration_t have a
corresponding field in libxl_domain_build_info. This is the case of
clock_frequency. As the field should not be exposed to the user, add a
corresponding field in libxl__domain_build_state. This require some
modification in the prototype of libxl__domain_make in order to have the
state.

For all the other fields, use the up-to-date version in
libxl_domain_build_info.

Andrew Cooper 2649612686 tools/libxl: Don't prepare or save xc_config when soft resetting a domain
xc_config is only used by xc_domain_create(), but by calling
libxl__arch_domain_{prepare,save}_config() we clobber the real settings with
the default settings.

Move all data and calls relating to xc_domain_create() into the path which
calls it.

As far as I can tell, soft_reset has always been broken for ARM domains using
LIBXL_GIC_VERSION_DEFAULT, which elicits a hard error out of
libxl__arch_domain_save_config(), and only works on x86 because this function
is a no-op.

Boris Ostrovsky f76d81d6e8 libxl/x86: Build e820 map earlier for HVM/PVH guests
Since hvm_start_info has now been expanded to include memory map (i.e.
e820) we need to know size of this map by the time we create
dom->start_info_seg in alloc_magic_pages_hvm().

To do so we have to call libxl__arch_domain_construct_memmap() earlier,
before xc_dom_build_image(). And since libxl__arch_domain_construct_memmap()
is only used by for x86 we can make this call from x86's

its NOP definition from ARM code and renaming and making it static in

Ian Jackson 62982da926 libxl: pvshim: Provide first-class config settings to enable shim mode
This is API-compatible because old callers are supposed to call
libxl_*_init to initialise the struct; and the updated function clears
these members.

It is ABI-compatible because the new fields make this member of the
guest type union larger but only within the existing size of that
union.

Unfortunately it is not easy to backport because it depends on the PVH
domain type. Attempts to avoid use of the PVH domain type involved
working with two views of the configuration: the "underlying" domain
type and the "visible" type (and corresponding config info). Also
there are different sets of config settings for PV and PVH, which
callers would have to know to set.

And, unfortunately, it will not be possible, with this approach, to
enable the shim by default for all libxl callers. (Although it could
perhaps be done in xl.)

For now, our config defaults are:
 * if enabled, path is "xen-shim" in the xen firmware directory
 * if enabled, cmdline is the one we are currently debugging with

The debugging arguments will be rationalised in a moment.

Ian Jackson bc1bd8ebc3 libxl: dm_restrict: Move to domain_build_info
Right now, this is broken because libxl__build_device_model_args_new
is used also for the qemu run for pv guests for qdisk devices, pvfb,
etc.

We can either make this option properly HVM-specific, or make it
generic.

In principle it is a reasonable request, to make the PV qemu
deprivileged (even though it is not likely to be implemented any time
soon). So make this option generic.

We retain the name "device model" even though it is arguably
inaccurate, because the xl docs already say, for example
For a PV guest a device-model is sometimes used to provide backends
  for certain PV devices

The documentation patch here is pure code motion. For ease of review
we will fix up the docs, so the wording to be right for the new
context, in the next patch.

Remove the device model "none" support from domain creation and

This requires changing some of the HVM checks to be applied for both

Setting device model to none was never supported since it was an

Igor Druzhinin 9e50d8adc9 hvmloader, libxl: use the correct ACPI settings depending on device model
We need to choose ACPI tables properly depending on the device
model version we are running. Previously, this decision was
made by BIOS type specific code in hvmloader, e.g. always load

This change saves this behavior (for compatibility) but adds

Tamas K Lengyel c47d1d6873 altp2m: introduce external-only and limited use-cases
Currently setting altp2mhvm=1 in the domain configuration allows access to the
altp2m interface for both in-guest and external privileged tools. This poses
a problem for use-cases where only external access should be allowed, requiring
the user to compile Xen with XSM enabled to be able to appropriately restrict
access.

In this patch we deprecate the altp2mhvm domain configuration option and
introduce the altp2m option, which allows specifying if by default the altp2m
interface should be external-only or limited. The information is stored in
HVM_PARAM_ALTP2M which we now define with specific XEN_ALTP2M_* modes.
If external mode is selected, the XSM check is shifted to use XSM_DM_PRIV
type check, thus restricting access to the interface by the guest itself. Note
that we keep the default XSM policy untouched. Users of XSM who wish to enforce
external mode for altp2m can do so by adjusting their XSM policy directly,
as this domain config option does not override an active XSM policy.

Also, as part of this patch we adjust the hvmop handler to require
HVM_PARAM_ALTP2M to be of a type other then disabled for all ops. This has been
previously only required for get/set altp2m domain state, all other options
were gated on altp2m_enabled. Since altp2m_enabled only gets set during set
altp2m domain state, this change introduces no new requirements to the other
ops but makes it more clear that it is required for all ops.

libxl__domain_make() may want to use b_info so we should set defaults
a little earlier.

Paul Durrant 09a4ef8351 libxl: create xenstore nodes for control/feature-XXX flags
The xenstore-paths documentation specifies various control/feature-XXX
flags to allow a guest to tell a toolstack about its abilities to
respond to values written to control/shutdown. However, because the
parent control xenstore key is created read-only to the guest, unless
empty nodes for the feature flags are also created reat/write by the
toolstack, the guest will not be able to set any flags.

This patch adds code to create all specified feature flag nodes at
domain creation time.

Juergen Gross de0b58c574 libxl: add "merge" function to generic device type support
Instead of using a macro generating the code to merge xenstore and
json configuration data, use the generic device type support for
this purpose.

This requires to add some accessor functions to the framework and
a structure for disks (as disks are added separately they didn't need
such a structure up to now).
