The blocktap library isn't really necessary; all the necessary functionality
is available via the tap-ctl binary.
To use:
script=block-tap,vdev=[whatever],target=vhd:/path/to/file.vhd
script=block-tap,vdev=[whatever],target=aio:/path/to/file.raw
