Jan Beulich 8395f275eb MAINTAINERS: drop AMD SVM and Intel VT-x sections
We'd like to thank the VT-x maintainers for their past contributions,
while at the same time we'd like to reflect reality as it has been for
quite some time. Have VT-x maintainership (and for symmetry also AMD
SVM's) fall back to general x86.

Vikram Garhwal 7e5c4a8b86 xen/arm: Implement device tree node removal functionalities
Introduce sysctl XEN_SYSCTL_dt_overlay to remove device-tree nodes added using
device tree overlay.

xl dt-overlay remove file.dtbo:
Removes all the nodes in a given dtbo.
First, removes IRQ permissions and MMIO accesses. Next, it finds the nodes
in dt_host and delete the device node entries from dt_host.

The nodes get removed only if it is not used by any of dom0 or domio.

Also, added overlay_track struct to keep the track of added node through device
tree overlay. overlay_track has dt_host_new which is unflattened form of updated
fdt and name of overlay nodes. When a node is removed, we also free the memory
used by overlay_track for the particular overlay node.

Nested overlay removal is supported in sequential manner only i.e. if
overlay_child nests under overlay_parent, it is assumed that user first removes
overlay_child and then removes overlay_parent.
Also, this is an experimental feature so it is expected from user to make sure
correct device tree overlays are used when adding nodes and making sure devices
are not being used by other domain before removing them from Xen tree.
Partially added/removed i.e. failures while removing the overlay may cause other
failures and might need a system reboot.

Jan Beulich f805cf3e9b MAINTAINERS: consolidate vm-event/monitor entry
If the F: description is to be trusted, the two xen/arch/x86/hvm/
lines were fully redundant with the earlier wildcard ones. Arch header
files, otoh, were no longer covered by anything as of the move from
include/asm-*/ to arch/*/include/asm/. Further also generalize (by
folding) the x86- and Arm-specific mem_access.c entries.

Finally, again assuming the F: description can be trusted, there's no
point listing arch/, common/, and include/ entries separately. Fold
them all.

Juergen Gross 5c293058b1 tools/xenstore: move xenstored sources into dedicated directory

They are no longer sharing anything apart from the "xenstore" in their

Move the xenstored sources into a new directory tools/xenstored while
dropping the "xenstored_" prefix from their names. This will make it
clearer that xenstore clients and xenstored are independent from each

In order to avoid two very similar named directories below tools,

Andrew Cooper da55d9dc91 x86/gen-cpuid: Avoid violations of Misra rule 1.3
Add the script to the X86 section in ./MAINTAINERS.

Structures or unions without any named members aren't liked by Misra
(nor the C standard). Avoid emitting such for leaves without any known
bits.

The placeholders are affected similarly, but are only visible to MISRA in the
middle of a patch series adding a new leaf. The absence of a name was
intentional as these defines need to not duplicate names.

As that's not deemed acceptable any more, move placeholder processing into the
main loop and append the the word number to generate unique names.

Daniel P. Smith b06c951a0c maintainers: add regex matching for xsm
XSM is a subsystem where it is equally important of how and where its hooks are
called as is the implementation of the hooks. The people best suited for
evaluating the how and where are the XSM maintainers and reviewers. This
creates a challenge as the hooks are used throughout the hypervisor for which
the XSM maintainers and reviewers are not, and should not be, a reviewer for
each of these subsystems in the MAINTAINERS file. Though the MAINTAINERS file
does support the use of regex matches, 'K' identifier, that are applied to both
the commit message and the commit delta. Adding the 'K' identifier will declare
that any patch relating to XSM require the input from the XSM maintainers and
reviewers. For those that use the get_maintianers script, the 'K' identifier
will automatically add the XSM maintainers and reviewers. Any one not using
get_maintainers, it will be their responsibility to ensure that if their work
touches and XSM hook, to ensure the XSM maintainers and reviewers are copied.

This patch adds a pair of regex expressions to the XSM section. The first is
`xsm_.*` which seeks to match XSM hooks in the commit's delta. The second is
`\b(xsm|XSM)\b` which seeks to match strictly the words xsm or XSM and should
not capture words with a substring of "xsm".

George Dunlap c9e4365d34 MAINTAINERS: Clarify check-in requirements for mixed-author patches
There was a question raised recently about the requirements for
checking in a patch which was originally written by one maintainer,
then picked up and modified by a second maintainer, and which they now both
agree should be checked in.

It was proposed that in that case, the following set of tags would suffice:

   Signed-off-by: First Author <...>
   Signed-off-by: Second Author <...>
   Reviewed-by: First Author <...>

The rationale was as follows:

1. The patch will be a mix of code, whose copyright is owned by the
various authors (or the companies they work for). It's important to
keep this information around in the event, for instance, of a license
change or something else requiring knowledge of the copyright owner.

2. The Signed-off-by of the Second Author approves not only their own
code, but First Author's code; the Reviewed-by of the First Author
approves not only their own code, but the Second Author's code. Thus
all the code has been approved by a maintainer, as well as someone who
was not the author.

In support of this, several arguments were put forward:

* We shouldn't make it harder for maintainers to get their code in
  than for non-maintainers

* The system we set up should not add pointless bureaucracy; nor
discourage collaboration; nor encourage contributors to get around
the rules by dropping important information. (For instance, by
removing the first SoB, so that the patch appears to have been
  written entirely by Second Author.)

Concerns were raised about two maintainers from the same company
colluding to get a patch in from their company; but such maintainers
could already collude, by working on the patch in secret, and posting
it publicly with only a single author's SoB, and having the other
person review it.

There's also something slightly strange about adding "Reviewed-by" to
code that you've written; but in the end you're reviewing not only the
code itself, but the final arrangement of it. There's no need to
overcomplicate things.

Encode this in MAINTAINERS as follows:

* Refine the wording of requirement #2 in the check-in policy; such
that *each change* must have approval from someone other than *the
person who wrote it*.

* Add a paragraph explicitly stating that the multiple-SoB-approval
system satisfies the requirements, and why.

Luca Fancellu a6dc3b947c xen/cpupool: Create different cpupools at boot time
Introduce a way to create different cpupools at boot time, this is
particularly useful on ARM big.LITTLE system where there might be the
need to have different cpupools for each type of core, but also
systems using NUMA can have different cpu pools for each node.

The feature on arm relies on a specification of the cpupools from the
device tree to build pools and assign cpus to them.

ACPI is not supported for this feature.

With this patch, cpupool0 can now have less cpus than the number of
online ones, so update the default case for opt_dom0_max_vcpus.

Anthony PERARD 44e8904ebf MAINTAINERS: Updating after change to tools/include/
The LIBS section doesn't mention the headers associated with the
libraries, same for LIBXENLIGHT section.

They aren't any ':' in other section names, so remove it.

Juergen Gross f7079d7ef6 MAINTAINERS: add myself as tools/libs reviewer
I have touched most of the Xen libraries in the past, and there is a
clear lack of reviewer band width in the tools area.

Add myself as a tools/libs reviewer for that reason.

$ make XEN_TARGET_ARCH=riscv64 SUBSYSTEMS=xen -C xen TARGET=riscv64/head.o

No other TARGET is supported at the moment.
