iap10@freefall.cl.cam.ac.uk 8d68c69875 Add a new /proc/xen file called 'capabilities'. Currently, when read in dom0 it will return 'control_d', and be empty when read in a guest. This provides a convenient way to allow the root user to detect whether they're running in a guest or dom0, and e.g. gate whether to start xend. In future, when we add more fine grained capabilities we will add other details into this file.

iap10@freefall.cl.cam.ac.uk 8b1b30d3cb Give each domain some memory below 4GB. This solves the "PGD's must be below 4GB" for the initial page tables. I'm not sure we'll stick with this approach, but this is good enough for the time being. 
PAE should be a *lot* more robust on systems that actually have more than 4GB thanks to all the various patches that went in today. I find it astounding that it ever appeared to work at all!

I don't see the problem on machine that I typically use, but I found and
fixed the problem on a big machine. It was causing a stack overflow. If
you look at the current code, it's a bit dangerous, see => part. This
patch fixes it.

iap10@freefall.cl.cam.ac.uk 141ec0c639 New 'network-bridge' script that uses ifdown/ifup to configure the interface rather than trying to transfer addresses and routes. (Suggested by Gerd Knorr) 
Although Li Ge has had problems with this script he had trouble with the previous too. I think this new one should work for more people, particularly those using DHCP on their primary dom0 interface.

Debugging is currently enabled ("sh -x") so a log of the script's execution is output to /var/log/xend.log

iap10@freefall.cl.cam.ac.uk 8e1bda2932 I updated the vcpu_to_cpu string creation to include a field separator, 
which gets rid of the -1 -> # hack and works for cpus > 9.

I ran into some issues with stale vcpu_to_cpu lists when running the
hotplug subprogram.  I would take a vcpu offline, and then issue the
command to bring it back and the vcpu_to_cpu list would not have changed
to indicate the the vcpu actually went down.  If I injected a xm list -v
(which always showed the correct mapping) then subsequent hotplug
commands would see the state change and fire off the hotplug request.  I
don't know that not sending the event when not changing state saves that
much work so I took the state check out and now just send the hotplug
event directly.

I don't fully understand all of the mappings that are happening, so this
part of the patch might be way off.  In any case, I've added a new
evtchn op to set the notify_vcpu_id field of a channel.  I updated the
HOTPLUG_CPU code to use the new routines when bringing cpus up and down.
When taking down a cpu, I route the IPI irq channels to CPU 0, and when
the cpu comes up, it re-routes the channels back to the awakened CPU.

It can be used as both a dom0 and domU domain kernel. It is not built by default as it takes ages, but should be in install tar balls and the demo CD.
