Hotplug has been replaced by udev since several years. Remove the
hotplug related files and install udev unconditionally.
This makes it possible to remove udev from rpm BuildRequires which
reduces the buildtime dependency chain. For openSuSE:Factory it was
done just now:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-buildservice/2012-10/msg00085.html

warnings:

[ 1437s] ../grub-upstream/netboot/main.c:444: warning: operation on 'block' may be undefined

[ 1234s] E: xen sequence-point ../grub-upstream/netboot/main.c:444
The reason for this is that the assignment is done twice:
tp.u.ack.block = ((uint16_t)( (((uint16_t)((block = prevblock)) & (uint16_t)0x00ffU) << 8) | (((uint16_t)((block = prevblock)) & (uint16_t)0xff00U) >> 8)));

The sysfs parser for /sys/bus/scsi/devices understands only the layout
of kernel version 2.6.16. This looks as follows:
/sys/bus/scsi/devices/1:0:0:0/block:sda is a symlink to /sys/block/sda/
/sys/bus/scsi/devices/1:0:0:0/scsi_generic:sg1 is a symlink to /sys/class/scsi_generic/sg1
Both directories contain a 'dev' file with the major:minor information.
This patch updates the used regex strings to match also the colon to
make it more robust against possible future changes.
In kernel version 3.0 the layout changed:
/sys/bus/scsi/devices/ contains now additional symlinks to directories
such as host1 and target1:0:0. This patch ignores these as they do not
point to the desired scsi devices. They just clutter the devices array.
The directory layout in '1:0:0:0' changed as well, the 'type:name'
notation was replaced with 'type/name' directories:
/sys/bus/scsi/devices/1:0:0:0/block/sda/
/sys/bus/scsi/devices/1:0:0:0/scsi_generic/sg1/
Both directories contain a 'dev' file with the major:minor information.
This patch adds additional code to walk the subdir to find the 'dev'
file to make sure the given subdirectory is really the kernel name.
In addition this patch makes sure devname is not None.

Currently the callers of vscsi_get_scsidevices() do not pass a mask
string. This will call "lsscsi -g '[]'", which causes a lsscsi syntax
error. As a result the sysfs parser _vscsi_get_scsidevices() is used.
But this parser is broken and the specified names in the config file are
not found.
Using a mask '*' if no mask was given will call lsscsi correctly and the
following config is parsed correctly:
vscsi=[
'/dev/sg3, 0:0:0:0',
'/dev/disk/by-id/wwn-0x600508b4000cf1c30000800000410000, 0:0:0:1'

Currently pvscsi can not pass SCSI devices that have just a scsi_generic node.
In the following example sg3 is a control LUN for the disk sdd.
But vscsi=['4:0:2:0,0:0:0:0'] does not work because the internal 'devname'
variable remains None. Later writing p-devname to xenstore fails because None
is not a valid string variable.
Since devname is used for just informational purpose use sg also as devname.

If a bootloader entry in menu.lst has no additional kernel command line
options listed and the domU.cfg has 'bootargs="--args=something"' the
additional arguments from the config file are not passed to the kernel.
The reason for that incorrect behaviour is that run_grub appends arg
only if the parsed config file has arguments listed.
Fix this by appending args from image section and the config file separatly.
To avoid adding to a NoneType initialize grubcfg['args'] to an empty string.
This does not change behaviour but simplifies the code which appends the
string.

Currently qemu-xen will be compiled with CFLAGS only if CFLAGS was
already in the environment during make invocation. If CFLAGS is in
environment then make will append all of the various flags specified in
xen Makefiles to this environment variable, which is then used in qemu
configure. Since qemu-xen is not ready for compiler flags like
"-std=gnu99" compilation will fail. If CFLAGS is not in environment,
then configure will use just its own "-O2 -g" because make does not
export its own CFLAGS variable.
>From a distro perspective, it is required to build libraries and
binaries with certain global cflags (arbitrary gcc options). Up to the
point when qemu-xen was imported it worked as expected by exporting
CFLAGS before 'make tools'. Now qemu-upstream reuses these CFLAGS, but
it cant deal with the result.
This patch extends the tools Makefiles so that three new environment
variables are recognized:
EXTRA_CFLAGS_XEN_TOOLS= specifies CFLAGS for the tools build.
EXTRA_CFLAGS_QEMU_TRADITIONAL= specifies CFLAGS for old qemu.
EXTRA_CFLAGS_QEMU_XEN= specifies CFLAGS for new qemu.
Special care needs to be taken in tools/firmware because the resulting
binaries are not linked with the hosts runtime libraries. These binaries
run in guest context. To avoid build errors from gcc options like
-fstack-protector, reuse existing practice to unset the new
EXTRA_CFLAGS_XEN_TOOLS for the firmware dirs.
The new feature can be used like this in a rpm xen.spec file:
export EXTRA_CFLAGS_XEN_TOOLS="${RPM_OPT_FLAGS}"
export EXTRA_CFLAGS_QEMU_TRADITIONAL="${RPM_OPT_FLAGS}"
export EXTRA_CFLAGS_QEMU_XEN="${RPM_OPT_FLAGS}"

One of the bottlenecks with foreign page-in request is the poor retry
handling in linux_privcmd_map_foreign_bulk(). It sends one request per
paged gfn at a time and it waits until the gfn is accessible. This
causes long delays in mmap requests from qemu-dm and xc_save.
Instead of sending one request at a time, walk the entire gfn list and
send batches of mmap requests. They will eventually end up in the pager's
request ring (if it has room again), and will fill up this ring so that
in turn the pager can also process page-in in batches.

With changeset 24364:0964341efd65 an event channel based notification of
new responses in the ringbuffer is implemented. This makes the memevent
interface obsolete. Currently a call to p2m_mem_paging_resume() is
triggered twice by xenpaging, once per memevent and once per even
channel. In practice this double call does not lead to issues because
p2m_mem_paging_resume() processes only available events.
xenpaging used the event channel notification since the beginning, but
it was a no-op until changeset mentioned above. This change removes the
unneeded XENMEM_paging_op_resume functionality. Pagers are notified via
an event channel of new requests, and now they are required to notify
the hypervisor about their responses also with an event channel.

When mem_event was added the type flag should indicate who the consumer
is. But the concept of a single ring buffer for multiple event types can
not work for two reasons. One is that no multiplexer exists which
provides individual event types to the final consumer, and second is
that even if such multiplexer can not work reliable because a request
needs to be answered with a response. The response should be sent
roughly in the order of received events. But with multiple consumers one
of them can so stall all the others.
For that reason the single mem_event buffer for all types of events was
split into individual ring buffers with commit 23842:483c5f8319ad. This
commit made the type member already obsolete because the meaning of each
buffer is now obvious.
This change removes the type member and increases the flags field.
Even though this is an ABI incompatible change, it will have no practical
impact on existing binaries because the changeset referenced above already
bumped the SONAME. So these binaries have to be recompiled anyway for the
upcoming major release.

Currently the command to flush the qemu cache is called alot if there
are no more pages to evict. This causes churn in the logfiles, and qemu
can not release more pages anyway since the last command.
Fix this by remembering the current number of paged-out gfns, if this
number did not change since the last flush command then sending another
new flush command will not free any more gfns.

The main loop calls xenpaging_wait_for_event_or_timeout() unconditionally
before doing any work. This function calls poll() with a timeout of 100ms. As
a result the page-out process is very slow due to the delay in poll().
Call poll() without timeout so that it returns immediately until the page-out
is done. Page-out is done when either the policy finds no more pages to
nominate or when the requested number of pages is reached.
The condition is cleared when a watch event arrives, so that processing the

LSB defines runlevel 4 as "reserved for local use, default is

The current behaviour of insserv in openSuSE 11.4 and SLES11SP2 is that
xencommons gets a symlink in /etc/init.d/rc4.d/ due to the 4 in the
Default-Start: line. As a result insserv will print a warning:
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (2 3 5) of script `xencommons' overwrites defaults (2 3 4 5).
Since the local admin is responsible to create all symlinks manually in
/etc/init.d/rc4.d/ the xencommons script should not automatically enable

So, remove the 4 from Default-Start: line.

Let p2m_mem_paging_nominate and p2m_mem_paging_evict return just one
error number. EINVAL is not very helpful in case of nominate, it can
happen if the pager tries to nominate a ballooned page. In this case the
gfn is not backed by a mfn, the pager can not know that. Similar with
evict, anything can happen between nominate and evict.
This change helps the pager to decide if the returned error is from the

most likely fatal and should be handled as such.
