Starting with QEMU 9.0, the option "-chroot", that we use for the
"dmrestrict" feature, is removed. We need to find out which to use
between "-chroot" and "-run-with chroot=dir".
This patch implement the machinery to spawn QEMU, and to run the QMP
command "query-command-line-options" but doesn't yet look at the
actual result. Whether or not to use "-run-with chroot=dir" will be
implemented in a follow up patch.
The command line used to spawn the qemu we want to probe is mostly
similar to the one we already use for the device model, "-machine
none" comes from libvirt.
This patch implement the probing on qemu-xen, even if we probably not
going to use the result. We could check the feature wanted for the
domain being created, but this could get complicated fairly quickly.
We already need to check the options "b_info->dm_restrict" for
"-chroot" and "state->dm_runas" for "-runas" (which is deprecated).

Current issues with this test are:
- when the job timeout, the log file is lost as there is no chance to
run the `mv` command.
- GitLab job log is limited in size, so one usually have to download
the artifacts, which may be missing.
Use $GITLAB_CI to detect when the script is run as part of a GitLab
pipeline. GitLab will add "GITLAB_CI=true" in the environment
variables.
When run as part of $GITLAB_CI, ignore "dirty" worktree to allow to
write "build-each-commit-gcc.log", which can then be grabbed as
artifacts, even when the job timeout. The `git clean` command is
changed to keep those build logs.
When run as part of $GITLAB_CI, we will also store the build output in
a log file instead of writing it to stdout, because GitLab's job log
is limited. But we will write the log to stdout in case of error, so
we can find out more quickly why there's been an error.
This patch also make use of a GitLab feature, "log sections", which we
will collapse by default. One section per commit been built.
There's a bit of colour added to the logs.

flex/bison generate two targets, and when those targets are

We can have a situation where the .c file is out-of-date but not the

In parallel, another target can have the .c file as prerequisite and
make will find out it need re-generating and do so, changing the .h at

the "clean" target, those two files are already removed via "_*.c".
We don't need $(AUTOINCS) either:
- As for both _libxl_save_msgs*.h headers, we are adding more
selective dependencies so the headers will still be generated as
needed.
- "clean" rule already delete the _*.h files, so AUTOINCS aren't needed

When there isn't a version-script for a shared library (like for
unstable libs), we create one based on the current Xen version. But
that version-script became out-of-date as soon as Xen's version
changes and make as no way to regenerate the version-script on
rebuild.
For unstable libs, we only needs the symver to be different from a
previous release of Xen. There's an option "--default-symver" which
allow to use the soname as symver and as the soname have the Xen
release version, it will be different for every release. With
--default-symver we don't need to generate a version-script.
But we also need to know if there's already an existing version script
, for that we introduce $(version-script) to be used to point to the
path of the existing script. (Guessing if a version script exist for a
stable library with for example $(wildcard) won't work as a file will
exist when building the library without this patch.)

library so it is removed from the "all" target.

Instead, we will use the proper way to link a library, by using '-l'.
For in-tree build, we also need to provide the search directory via

(The search path -L are still be embedded, but at least that doesn't

Currently, a rebuild of libxl will always rebuild "build.o". This is because
the target depends on "acpi" which never exist. So instead we will have
"build.o" have as prerequisites targets that are actually generated by "acpi",
that is $(DSDT_FILES-y).
While "dsdt_*.c" isn't really a dependency for "build.o", a side
effect of building that dsdt_*.c is to also generate the "ssdt_*.h"

We can't have a source file with the same name that exist in both the
common code and in the arch specific code for efi/. This can lead to
confusion in make and it can pick up the wrong source file. This issue
lead to a failure to build a pv-shim for x86 out-of-tree, as this is
one example of an x86 build using the efi/stub.c.
The issue is that in out-of-tree, make might find x86/efi/stub.c via
VPATH, but as the target needs to be rebuilt due to FORCE, make
actually avoid changing the source tree and rebuilt the target with
VPATH ignored, so $@ lead to the build tree where "stub.c" doesn't
exist yet so a link is made to "common/stub.c".
Rework the new common/stub.c file to have a different name than the
already existing one, by renaming the existing one. We can hide the
compat aliases that x86 uses behind CONFIG_COMPAT so a Arm build will
not have them.
Also revert the change to the rule that creates symbolic links it's
better to just recreate the link in cases where an existing file exist
or the link goes to the wrong file.
Avoid using $(EFIOBJ-y) as an alias for $(clean-files), add
"stub.c" directly to $(clean-files).
Also update .gitignore as this was also missing from the original
patch.

check-endbr.sh works with gawk, but fails with mawk. The produced $ALL
file is smaller as it is missing 0x$vma_lo on every line. With mawk,
int(0x2A) just produces 0, instead of the expected value.
The use of hexadecimal-constant in awk is an optional part of the posix
spec, and mawk doesn't seems to implemented.
There is a way to convert an hexadecimal to a number be putting it in a
string, and awk as I understand is supposed to use strtod() to convert
the string to a number when needed. The expression 'int("0x15") + 21'
would produce the expected value in `mawk` but now `gawk` won't convert
the string to a number unless we use the option "--non-decimal-data".
So let's convert the hexadecimal number before using it in the awk
script. The shell as no issue with dealing with hexadecimal-constant so
we'll simply use the expression "$(( 0x15 ))" to convert the value
before using it in awk.
Note: This does introduce a latent portability bug, which fixed in a separate
change to avoid mixing complexity/explanations.
