Current usage of sed in the libacpi Makefile make uses of non-POSIX options,
that are not available on all the OSes supported by the Xen tools.
The '-i' option has slightly different semantics between GNU and BSD sed
implementations, while on the GNU version the suffix is optional, on the BSD
one it is not. Also BSD sed seems to have problems parsing the script
itself, reporting "extra characters at the end of d command".
Fix those issues by using a temporary intermediate file, and replace the
script with a simpler version that achieves the same purpose (removing the

The calling convention used by the FreeBSD ELF OSABI is exactly the same as
the the one defined by System V, so payloads with a FreeBSD OSABI should be
accepted by the xsplice machinery.
Specifically "the FreeBSD ELF OSABI only has a meaning for userspace
applications, it's used by FreeBSD in order to detect if an application
is native or if it needs to be run in the linuxator (the Linux emulator,
or any other emulator that is available and matches the ELF OSABI specified
in the binary FWIW).
The only difference from SYSV to FreeBSD OSABI is the sysentvec that's
selected inside of the FreeBSD kernel (the ABI between the kernel and the
user-space application), but of course this doesn't apply to kernel code,
which is what Xen and the xsplice payloads are. Sadly this is not written
anywhere. " And since the ELF tools on FreeBSD by default build with
this - they would stick this OSABI entry.

The discussion in [1] lead to an agreement of the missing pieces in PVH
(or HVM without a device-model) in order to progress with it's
implementation.
One of the missing pieces is a new boot ABI, that replaces the PV boot
ABI. The aim of this new boot ABI is to remove the limitations of the
PV boot ABI, that are no longer present when using auto-translated
guests. The new boot protocol should allow to use the same entry point
for both 32bit and 64bit guests, and let the guest choose it's bitness
and paging mode at run time without the domain builder knowing in
advance.
This patch introduces a new document called hvmlite.markdown, with the
intention of merging it into pvh.markdown once the HVMlite implementation
has feature parity with PVH and the old PVH ABI is replaced with the

Place the calls to xc_vcpu_setcontext and the allocation of the hypercall
buffer into the arch-specific vcpu hooks. This is needed in order to
introduce a new builder, so x86 HVM guests can initialize the BSP using
XEN_DOMCTL_sethvmcontext instead of XEN_DOMCTL_setvcpucontext.
This patch should not introduce any functional change.
