The conversion from a function pointer with the 'noreturn' attribute
('void noreturn (*)(...)') to a function pointer type ('void (*)(...)'
causes type incompatibility according to MISRA C Rule 11.1, which
forbids conversions between incompatible function pointer types.
The violation occurs at the call site:
smp_call_function(halt_this_cpu, NULL, 0);
where 'halt_this_cpu' with type 'void noreturn (*)(void *)' is passed to
'smp_call_function' expecting function pointer of type 'void (*)(void *)'.
The 'noreturn' attribute does not change the function calling convention
or parameter handling at runtime, making the conversion safe.
For now, configure Eclair to just treat implicit conversions that lose
the "noreturn" attribute on a function 'void (*)(void*)' as safe.

MISRA C Rule 2.1 states: "A project shall not contain unreachable code".
Functions that are non-returning and are not explicitly annotated with
the `noreturn' attribute are considered a violation of this rule.
In certain cases, some functions might be non-returning in specific build
configurations (when assertions are enabled, i.e., when `NDEBUG' is not
defined). This is due to calls to `__builtin_unreachable()' in the
expansion of the macro `ASSERT_UNREACHABLE()'.
Conversely, in builds where `NDEBUG' is defined (assertions are disabled),
the macro `ASSERT_UNREACHABLE()' expands to an empty construct
(`do { } while (0)'), which does not affect the execution flow. This allows
such functions to return normally in such builds, avoiding unreachable code.
To account for that in specific builds, the `noreturn` property of
`__builtin_unreachable()` is overridden in the ECLAIR configuration to
deviate these violations.

The definition of MISRA C Rule 12.2 ("The right hand operand of a shift

The Xen platform PCI device (vendor ID 0x5853) exposed to x86 HVM guests
doesn't have the functionality of a traditional PCI device. The exposed
MMIO BAR is used by some guests (including Linux) as a safe place to map
foreign memory, including the grant table itself.
Traditionally BARs from devices have the uncacheable (UC) cache attribute
from the MTRR, to ensure correct functionality of such devices. hvmloader
mimics this behavior and sets the MTRR attributes of both the low and high
PCI MMIO windows (where BARs of PCI devices reside) as UC in MTRR.
This however causes performance issues for users of the Xen platform PCI
device BAR, as for the purposes of mapping remote memory there's no need to
use the UC attribute. On Intel systems this is worked around by using
iPAT, that allows the hypervisor to force the effective cache attribute of
a p2m entry regardless of the guest PAT value. AMD however doesn't have an
equivalent of iPAT, and guest PAT values are always considered.
Linux commit:
41925b105e34 xen: replace xen_remap() with memremap()
Attempted to mitigate this by forcing mappings of the grant-table to use
the write-back (WB) cache attribute. However Linux memremap() takes MTRRs
into account to calculate which PAT type to use, and seeing the MTRR cache
attribute for the region being UC the PAT also ends up as UC, regardless of
the caller having requested WB.
As a workaround to allow current Linux to map the grant-table as WB using
memremap() introduce an xl.cfg option (xen_platform_pci_bar_uc=0) that can
be used to select whether the Xen platform PCI device BAR will have the UC
attribute in MTRR. Such workaround in hvmloader should also be paired with
a fix for Linux so it attempts to change the MTRR of the Xen platform PCI
device BAR to WB by itself.
Overall, the long term solution would be to provide the guest with a safe
range in the guest physical address space where mappings to foreign pages
can be created.

Both GCC and Clang support -fstack-protector feature, which add stack
canaries to functions where stack corruption is possible. This patch
makes general preparations to enable this feature on different
supported architectures:
- Added CONFIG_HAS_STACK_PROTECTOR option so each architecture
can enable this feature individually
- Added user-selectable CONFIG_STACK_PROTECTOR option
- Implemented code that sets up random stack canary and a basic
handler for stack protector failures
Stack guard value is initialized in two phases:
1. Pre-defined randomly-selected value.
2. Own implementation of linear congruent random number generator. It
relies on get_cycles() being available very early. If get_cycles()
returns zero, it would leave pre-defined value from the previous step.
boot_stack_chk_guard_setup() is declared as always_inline to ensure
that it will not trigger stack protector by itself. And of course,
caller should ensure that stack protection code will not be reached
later. It is possible to call the same function from an ASM code by
introducing simple trampoline in stack-protector.c, but right now
there is no use case for such trampoline.
As __stack_chk_fail() is not called by Xen source code directly, and
only called by compiler-generated code, it does not needed to be
declared separately. So we need separate MISRA deviation for it.

H provides additional instructions and CSRs that control the new stage of
address translation and support hosting a guest OS in virtual S-mode
(VS-mode).
According to the Unprivileged Architecture (version 20240411) specification:
```
Table 74 summarizes the standardized extension names. The table also defines
the canonical order in which extension names must appear in the name string,
with top-to-bottom in table indicating first-to-last in the name string, e.g.,
RV32IMACV is legal, whereas RV32IMAVC is not.
```
According to Table 74, the h extension is placed last in the one-letter
extensions name part of the ISA string.
`h` is a standalone extension based on the patch [1] but it wasn't so
before.
As the minimal supported GCC version to build Xen for RISC-V is 12.2.0,
and for that version, h is still considered a prefix for the hypervisor
extension but the name of hypervisor extension must be more then 1 letter
extension, a workaround ( with using `hh` as an H extension name ) is
implemented as otherwise the following compilation error will occur:
error: '-march=rv64gc_h_zbb_zihintpause': name of hypervisor extension
must be more than 1 letter
After GCC version 13.1.0, the commit [1] introducing H extension support
allows us to drop the workaround with `hh` as hypervisor extension name
and use only one h in -march.

into the p2m for dom0 access. However the information Xen has about the
host memory map is limited. Xen doesn't have access to any resources
described in ACPI dynamic tables, and hence the p2m mappings provided might
not be complete.
PV doesn't suffer from this issue because a PV dom0 is capable of mapping
into it's page-tables any address not explicitly banned in d->iomem_caps.
Introduce a new command line options that allows Xen to attempt to fixup
the p2m page-faults, by creating p2m identity maps in response to p2m
page-faults.
This is aimed as a workaround to small ACPI regions Xen doesn't know about.
Note that missing large MMIO regions mapped in this way will lead to
slowness due to the VM exit processing, plus the mappings will always use
small pages.
The ultimate aim is to attempt to bring better parity with a classic PV
dom0.
Note such fixup rely on the CPU doing the access to the unpopulated
address. If the access is attempted from a device instead there's no
possible way to fixup, as IOMMU page-fault are asynchronous.
