Juergen Gross d21121685f tools/libs/guest: fix save and restore of pv domains after 32-bit de-support
After 32-bit PV-guests have been security de-supported when not running
under PV-shim, the hypervisor will no longer be configured to support
those domains per default when not being built as PV-shim.

Unfortunately libxenguest will fail saving or restoring a PV domain
due to this restriction, as it is trying to get the compat MFN list
even for 64 bit guests.

Fix that by obtaining the compat MFN list only for 32-bit PV guests.

Juergen Gross 455790573d tools/libs: move xc_core* from libxenctrl to libxenguest
The functionality in xc_core* should be part of libxenguest instead
of libxenctrl. Users are already either in libxenguest, or in xl.
There is one single exception: xc_core_arch_auto_translated_physmap()
is being used by xc_domain_memory_mapping(), which is used by qemu.
So leave the xc_core_arch_auto_translated_physmap() functionality in
libxenctrl.

This will make it easier to merge common functionality of xc_core*

Juergen Gross f183854fac tools/libs/ctrl: use common p2m mapping code in xc_domain_resume_any()
Instead of open coding the mapping of the p2m list use the already
existing xc_core_arch_map_p2m() call, especially as the current code
does not support guests with the linear p2m map. It should be noted
that this code is needed for colo/remus only.

Switching to xc_core_arch_map_p2m() drops the need to bail out for
bitness of tool stack and guest differing.

Juergen Gross bd7a29c3d0 tools/libs/ctrl: fix xc_core_arch_map_p2m() to support linear p2m table
The core of a pv linux guest produced via "xl dump-core" is nor usable
as since kernel 4.14 only the linear p2m table is kept if Xen indicates
it is supporting that. Unfortunately xc_core_arch_map_p2m() is still
supporting the 3-level p2m tree only.

Fix that by copying the functionality of map_p2m() from libxenguest to
libxenctrl.

Additionally the mapped p2m isn't of a fixed length now, so the
interface to the mapping functions needs to be adapted. In order not to
add even more parameters, expand struct domain_info_context and use a
pointer to that as a parameter.

The legacy __xen_guest section doesn't support the PHYS32_ENTRY

Andrew Cooper 8fe24090d9 x86/cpuid: Rework HLE and RTM handling
The TAA mitigation offered the option to hide the HLE and RTM CPUID bits,
which has caused some migration compatibility problems.

These two bits are special. Annotate them with ! to emphasise this point.

Hardware Lock Elision (HLE) may or may not be visible in CPUID, but is
disabled in microcode on all CPUs, and has been removed from the architecture.
Do not advertise it to VMs by default.

Restricted Transactional Memory (RTM) may or may not be visible in CPUID, and
may or may not be configured in force-abort mode. Have tsx_init() note
whether RTM has been configured into force-abort mode, so
guest_common_feature_adjustments() can conditionally hide it from VMs by
default.

The host policy values for HLE/RTM may or may not be set, depending on any
previous running kernel's choice of visibility, and Xen's choice. TSX is
available on any CPU which enumerates a TSX-hiding mechanism, so instead of
doing a two-step to clobber any hiding, scan CPUID, then set the visibility,
just force visibility of the bits in the first place.

With the HLE/RTM bits now unilaterally visible in the host policy,
xc_cpuid_apply_policy() can construct a more appropriate policy out of thin
air for pre-4.13 VMs with no CPUID data in their migration stream, and
specifically one where HLE/RTM doesn't potentially disappear behind the back
of a running VM.

Andrew Cooper e19b01c186 libs/guest: Don't hide the indirection on xc_cpu_policy_t
It is bad form in C, perhaps best demonstrated by trying to read
xc_cpu_policy_destroy(), and causes const qualification to have
less-than-obvious behaviour (the hidden pointer becomes const, not the thing
it points at).

xc_cpu_policy_set_domain() needs to drop its (now normal) const qualification,
as the policy object is modified by the serialisation operation.

This also shows up a problem with the x86_cpu_policies_are_compatible(), where
the intermediate pointers are non-const.

Roger Pau Monné e9b4fe2636 x86/cpuid: support LFENCE always serialising CPUID bit
AMD Milan (Zen3) CPUs have an LFENCE Always Serialising CPUID bit in
leaf 80000021.eax. Previous AMD versions used to have a user settable
bit in DE_CFG MSR to select whether LFENCE was dispatch serialising,
which Xen always attempts to set. The forcefully always on setting is
due to the addition of SEV-SNP so that a VMM cannot break the
confidentiality of a guest.

In order to support this new CPUID bit move the LFENCE_DISPATCH
synthetic CPUID bit to map the hardware bit (leaving a hole in the
synthetic range) and either rely on the bit already being set by the
native CPUID output, or attempt to fake it in Xen by modifying the
DE_CFG MSR. This requires adding one more entry to the featureset to
support leaf 80000021.eax.

The bit is always exposed to guests by default even if the underlying
hardware doesn't support leaf 80000021. Note that Xen doesn't allow
guests to change the DE_CFG value, so once set by Xen LFENCE will always
be serialising.

Note that the access to DE_CFG by guests is left as-is: reads will
unconditionally return LFENCE_SERIALISE bit set, while writes are
silently dropped.

Jan Beulich d0d1003b97 libxg: don't use max policy in xc_cpuid_xend_policy()
using max undermines the separation between default and max. For
example, turning off AVX512F on an MPX-capable system silently turns on
MPX, despite this not being part of the default policy anymore. Since
the information is used only for determining what to convert 'x' to (but
not to e.g. validate '1' settings), the effect of this change is
identical for guests with (suitable) "cpuid=" settings to that of the
changes separating default from max and then converting (e.g.) MPX from
being part of default to only being part of max for guests without
(affected) "cpuid=" settings.

Jan Beulich eaecd329a5 xen/decompress: make helper symbols static
The individual decompression CUs need to only surface their top level
functions to other code. Arrange for everything else to be static, to
make sure no undue uses of that code exist or will appear without
explicitly noticing. (In some cases this also results in code size
reduction, but since this is all init-only code this probably doesn't
matter very much.)

In the LZO case also take the opportunity and convert u8 where lines
get touched anyway.

The downside is that the top level functions will now be non-static
in stubdom builds of libxenguest, but I think that's acceptable. This
does require declaring them first, though, as the compiler warns about
the lack of declarations.

Anthony PERARD dae3c3e8b2 libxl: Fix domain soft reset state handling
In do_domain_soft_reset(), a `libxl__domain_suspend_state' is used
without been properly initialised and disposed of. This lead do a
abort() in libxl due to the `dsps.qmp' state been used before been
initialised:
    libxl__ev_qmp_send: Assertion `ev->state == qmp_state_disconnected || ev->state == qmp_state_connected' failed.

Once initialised, `dsps' also needs to be disposed of as the `qmp'
state might still be in the `Connected' state in the callback for
libxl__domain_suspend_device_model(). So this patch adds
libxl__domain_suspend_dispose() which can be called from the two
places where we need to dispose of `dsps'.

Roger Pau Monné 0570d7f276 x86/msr: introduce an option for compatible MSR behavior selection
Introduce an option to allow selecting a behavior similar to the pre
Xen 4.15 one for accesses to MSRs not explicitly handled. Since commit
84e848fd7a and 322ec7c89f accesses to MSRs not explicitly
handled by Xen result in the injection of a #GP to the guest. This
is a behavior change since previously a #GP was only injected if
accessing the MSR on the real hardware would also trigger a #GP, or if
the attempted to be set bits wouldn't match the hardware values (for
PV). The reasons for not leaking hardware MSR values and injecting a
#GP are fully valid, so the solution proposed here should be
considered a temporary workaround until all the required MSRs are
properly handled.

This seems to be problematic for some guests, so introduce an option
to fallback to this kind of legacy behavior without leaking the
underlying MSR values to the guest.

When the option is set, for both PV and HVM don't inject a #GP to the
guest on MSR read if reading the underlying MSR doesn't result in a
#GP, do the same for writes and simply discard the value to be written
on that case.

Note that for guests restored or migrated from previous Xen versions
the option is enabled by default, in order to keep a compatible
MSR behavior. Such compatibility is done at the libxl layer, to avoid
higher-level toolstacks from having to know the details about this flag.

Andrew Cooper c4441ab1f1 dmop: Add XEN_DMOP_nr_vcpus
Curiously absent from the stable API/ABIs is an ability to query the number of
vcpus which a domain has. Emulators need to know this information in
particular to know how many stuct ioreq's live in the ioreq server mappings.

In practice, this forces all userspace to link against libxenctrl to use
xc_domain_getinfo(), which rather defeats the purpose of the stable libraries.

Introduce a DMOP to retrieve this information and surface it in

For 4.15. This was a surprise discovery in the massive ABI untangling effort
I'm currently doing for XenServer's new build system.

This is one new read-only op to obtain information which isn't otherwise
available under a stable API/ABI. As such, its risk for 4.15 is very low,
with a very real quality-of-life improvement for downstreams.

I realise this is technically a new feature and we're long past feature
freeze, but I'm hoping that "really lets some emulators move off the unstable
libraries" is sufficiently convincing argument.

It's not sufficient to let Qemu move off unstable libraries yet - at a
minimum, the add_to_phymap hypercalls need stabilising to support PCI
Passthrough and BAR remapping.

I'd prefer not to duplicate the op handling between ARM and x86, and if this
weren't a release window, I'd submit a prereq patch to dedup the common dmop
handling. That can wait to 4.16 at this point. Also, this op ought to work
against x86 PV guests, but fixing that up will also need this rearrangement
into common code, so needs to wait.
