Memory node probing is done as part of early_scan_node() that is called
for each node with depth >= 1 (root node is at depth 0). According to
Devicetree Specification v0.4, chapter 3.4, /memory node can only exists
as a top level node. However, Xen incorrectly considers all the nodes with
unit node name "memory" as RAM. This buggy behavior can result in a
failure if there are other nodes in the device tree (at depth >= 2) with
"memory" as unit node name. An example can be a "memory@xxx" node under
/reserved-memory. Fix it by introducing device_tree_is_memory_node() to
perform all the required checks to assess if a node is a proper /memory
node.

will add them in a "reg" property of a GICv3 domU node. Guest needs to
know how many regions to search for, and therefore the GICv3 dt binding
[1] specifies that "#redistributor-regions" property is required if more
than one redistributor region is present. However, Xen does not add this
property which makes guest believe, there is just one such region. This
can lead to guest boot failure when doing GIC SMP initialization. Fix it

to debug data transfer registers (i.e. DBGDTRTX_EL0 on arm64, DBGDTRTXINT on

To prevent this crash, introduce a partial emulation of DBGDTR[TR]X_EL0

Refer ARM DDI 0487J.a ID042523, D19.3.8, DBGDTRTX_EL0

Thus, any OS is expected to read MDCCSR_EL0 and check for TXfull before

At the moment, trying to run xencov read/reset (calling SYSCTL_coverage_op
under the hood) results in a crash. This is due to a profiler trying to
access data in the .init.* sections (libfdt for Arm and libelf for x86)
that are stripped after boot. Normally, the build system compiles any
*.init.o file without COV_FLAGS. However, these two libraries are
handled differently as sections will be renamed to init after linking.
To override COV_FLAGS to empty for these libraries, lib{fdt, elf}.o were
added to nocov-y. This worked until e321576f40 ("xen/build: start using
if_changed") that added lib{fdt,elf}-temp.o and their deps to extra-y.
This way, even though these objects appear as prerequisites of
lib{fdt, elf}.o and the settings should propagate to them, make can also
build them as a prerequisite of __build, in which case COV_FLAGS would
still have the unwanted flags. Fix it by switching to $(targets) instead.
Also, for libfdt, append libfdt.o to nocov-y only if CONFIG_OVERLAY_DTB
is not set. Otherwise, there is no section renaming and we should be able

while running on identity mapping:
- define PRINT_SECT() macro to be able to specify a section for storing
a string. PRINT() will use .rodata.str and PRINT_ID() - .rodata.idmap.
This is necessary, because when running on identity mapping, the
strings need to be part of the first page that is mapped,
- move loading a runtime virtual UART address right after enabling MMU
(the corresponding steps repeated in {primary,secondary}_switched are
now consolidated in a single place),
- move early printk 'hex' string into .rodata.idmap and replace 'adr'
instruction in asm_putn with 'adr_l' to extend the addressable range,
- remove RODATA_STR() macro given no use.

.rodata.str. Move it to .rodata.idmap to allow making use of print_reg

On Arm32, after cleaning and invalidating the last dcache line of the top
domheap page i.e. VA = 0xfffff000 (as a result of flushing the page to
RAM), we end up adding the value of a dcache line size to the pointer
once again, which results in a pointer arithmetic overflow (with 64B line
size, operation 0xffffffc0 + 0x40 overflows to 0x0). Such behavior is
undefined and given the wide range of compiler versions we support, it is
difficult to determine what could happen in such scenario.
Modify clean_and_invalidate_dcache_va_range() as well as
clean_dcache_va_range() and invalidate_dcache_va_range() due to similarity
of handling to prevent pointer arithmetic overflow. Modify the loops to
use an additional variable to store the index of the next cacheline.
Add an assert to prevent passing a region that wraps around which is
illegal and would end up in a page fault anyway (region 0-2MB is
unmapped). Lastly, return early if size passed is 0.
Note that on Arm64, we don't have this problem given that the max VA
space we support is 48-bits.

Generic timer dt node property "clock-frequency" (refer Linux dt binding
Documentation/devicetree/bindings/timer/arm,arch_timer.yaml) is used to
override the incorrect value set by firmware in CNTFRQ_EL0. If the value
of this property is 0 (i.e. by mistake), Xen would continue to work and
use the value from the sysreg instead. The logic is thus incorrect and
results in inconsistency when creating timer node for domUs:
- libxl domUs: clock_frequency member of struct xen_arch_domainconfig
is set to 0 and libxl ignores setting the "clock-frequency" property,
- dom0less domUs: "clock-frequency" property is taken from dt_host and
thus set to 0.
Property "clock-frequency" is used to override the value from sysreg,
so if it is also invalid, there is nothing we can do and we shall panic
to let user know about incorrect setting. Going even further, we operate
under assumption that the frequency must be at least 1KHz (i.e. cpu_khz
not 0) in order for Xen to boot. Therefore, introduce a new helper
validate_timer_frequency() to verify this assumption and use it to check

At the moment, Xen does not support booting gzip compressed uImages.
This is because we are trying to decompress the kernel before probing
the u-boot header. This leads to a failure as the header always appears
at the top of the image (and therefore obscuring the gzip header).
Move the call to kernel_uimage_probe before kernel_decompress and make
the function self-containing by taking the following actions:
- take a pointer to struct bootmodule as a parameter,
- check the comp field of a u-boot header to determine compression type,
- in case of compressed image, call kernel_decompress passing uImage
header size as an offset to gzip header,
- set up zimage.{kernel_addr,len} accordingly,
- return -ENOENT in case of a u-boot header not found to distinguish it
amongst other return values and make it the only case for falling
through to try to probe other image types.
Modify kernel_decompress to take an additional parameter being an offset
to a gzip header from start address. This is needed so that a function
can first operate on a region containing actually compressed kernel (in case
of compressed uImage, size of u-boot header is an offset to a gzip header)
and then at the end pass the entire region (as it was before taking an offset
into account) to fw_unreserved_regions for freeing.
This approach avoids splitting the uImage probing into 2 stages (executed
before and after decompression) which otherwise would be necessary to
properly parse header, update boot module start and size before
decompression and update zimage.{kernel_addr,len} afterwards.

setup_frametable_mappings to be notified whenever the size of the

At the moment, for dom0less domUs, we do not have a way to specify
per domain grant table related limits (unlike when using xl), namely
max version, max number of grant frames, max number of maptrack frames.
This means that such domains always use the values specified by the Xen
command line parameters or their default values if unspecified.
In order to have more control over dom0less domUs, introduce the
following device-tree properties that can be set under domUs nodes:
- max_grant_version to set the maximum grant table version the domain
is allowed to use,
- max_grant_frames to set the maximum number of grant frames the domain
is allowed to have,
- max_maptrack_frames to set the maximum number of grant maptrack frames
the domain is allowed to have.
Update documentation accordingly.
Note that the values obtained from device tree are of type uint32_t,
whereas the d_cfg.max_{grant_frames,maptrack_frames} are of type int32_t.
Call panic in case of overflow. Other sanity checks are already there in
grant_table_init() resulting in panic in case of errors, therefore no
need to repeat them in create_domUs().

Introduce support for using XTF on Arm to perform low-level testing.
For the purpose of the CI testing, let's use the fork [1] from upstream
XTF with implemented support for arm64 (the upstream XTF only supports
x86).
Add a new script under automation/scripts to be used by the CI XTF test
jobs to perform the following tasks:
- Compiling XTF,
- Generating u-boot script using ImageBuilder,
- Running Xen with XTF as domU in pure dom0less configuration using Qemu,
- Checking test result.
The script takes the name of the XTF test to run as a first parameter.

Populate test jobs for Yocto based tests using the provided containers.
Due to the size restrictions, it is currently not possible to split the
build and run tasks, therefore everything is done in a single step.
Test jobs for the supported Yocto targets are generic to avoid the
necessity to add new ones after each Yocto release. The only thing
required to be changed after updating the containers is the variable
YOCTO_VERSION stored in a .yocto-test template.

At the moment, we route NS phys timer IRQ to Xen even though it does not
make use of this timer. Xen uses hypervisor timer for itself and the
physical timer is fully emulated, hence there is nothing that can trigger
such IRQ. This means that requesting/releasing IRQ ends up as a deadcode
as it has no impact on the functional behavior, whereas the code within
a handler ends up being unreachable. This is a left over from the early
days when the CNTHP IRQ was buggy on the HW model used for testing and we
had to use the CNTP instead.
Remove the calls to {request/release}_irq for this timer as well as the
code within the handler. Since timer_interrupt handler is now only used
by the CNTHP, refactor it as follows:
- rename it to htimer_interrupt to reflect its purpose,
- remove the IRQ affiliation test,
- invert the condition to avoid indented code and use unlikely,
- improve readability by adding new lines \btw code and comments.
Keep the calls to zero the CNTP_CTL_EL0 register for sanity and also
remove the corresponding perf counter definition.
